Because they see him as better than what they currently have. But that answers why someone would trade for a quarterback. But why would they target Bagent specifically?

OK..........question, were you the guy sitting behind me screaming to put Bagent in when Williams was struggling? You guys know NOTHING about the Bears. NOTHING about football. Bagent is as secure on this team as Caleb's polish is on his nails. Case Keenun is QB #3 and QB #1 QB support group behind QB #2 Bagent. Veteran presence. Veteran man. Veteran presents veteran presence which is QB #1 off-season present. Get it straight or get out.

Raiders tried trading for him last year.Who’s trading for Bagent and why?
He's trashBagent has some worth in this league so no way do they just cut him. I hope they keep him, i think he's a good backup QB in the NFL.
Not free agent news but could impact the draft.
Draft trex campbell and trade braxton to them for a 2nd round pick now that they are desperate.
Conerly at #13? Holy shyt that kid is going to owe Mike Tice half of his signing bonus the way he's raised his stance in the draft. Do you really think Conerly has raised that much? I mean i've been all over him but that was for hoping he would be there at #39 for us but M.Tice obviously deserves for people to listen to his opinions on players when it comes to the OL.Or they can sit at 13 and take Banks Jr. or Conerly…
I just think it would be more of a panic move by the Fins. They are probably drastically rearranging their draft board right now.Conerly at #13? I’m sure they had an idea that this might happen.I just think it would be more of a panic move by the Fins. They are probably drastically rearranging their draft board right now.

The Bears better keep Jones if they end up drafting any one of Campbell, Banks or Membou until they know they can actually play LT.I don’t think he’s going at 13 but they’re not giving the Bears a 2nd for Jones either as suggested by another poster. They will have options to draft and develop.

They drafted Patrick Paul in the 2nd last year as Armstead's potential replacement. They need depth as Borom is the 3rd tackle but dont have to draft T in the first.I’m sure they had an idea that this might happen.

In some ways, I’d see it like Fields… if you draft a replacement in the top 10, the writing is on the wall. You trade the existing guy. If the new guy sucks, you have to replace him in a couple years. Obviously you hope he doesn’t suck, but can’t demote a starter or send that kind of message and expect it to go over well. At the end of the day, I think we know Braxton won’t be a special player in the league anyway. Why would jones remain on the bears, during a contract year, if they peg a rookie in as the starter at LT? I get he only gets so much say, but there would be a team out there who would want him for sure.
The moment they draft an OT at #10, Jones and his agent will likely request a trade if he's not the projected starter game 1.
He's not sitting on the bench being a swing tackle after seeing a guy who's started 5 games last year make 15m/yr

Where did I say they dont need to draft a tackle? I said they dont necessarily need one in the first. There are other rounds in the draft. They also could very well take one in the first if they arent sold on Paul.Hmm, so the dolphins drafted a tackle prospect in the low 2nd last year so they dont need to draft a tackle...but the bears drafting a tackle in the high 3rd means they need to take a tackle at #10
