What type of seeds?

I have had zero problems with seeds. Well, I say that, I have learned a few lessons with seeds and things have gone much better since.

So I have tried twice, this will be my last with seeds.

I use a seed soil, keep them covered with plastic wrap loosely until green emerges. I water every couple of days enough to keep the soil most.

jalepenos, habaneros, cucumbers, several kinds of tomatoes, green beans, watermelon, pumpkins, tomatillos,

no grass cutting..no shovelling...but no garden/hammock
When I had a yard, I didn't have to do that either lol. The townhouse I owned had a small patch of yard I could use for gardening. But I sold it last year to move in with the fiance. Her townhouse is much bigger inside but no yard, lacks much outdoor amenities. Trade offs.

We did grow some stuff in pots, but it just wasn't the same.

I find with most seeds, for them to be Hardy and survive you have to plant them outside. When I've started seeds inside they have always struggled with the switch to outside

A buddy starts and grows his own plants to sell produce at a couple farmers markets. Gives me whatever I want for my garden. These plants have been hearty and very productive, IMHO better than store bought. I'm not sure if there's a rule as far as moving them to the outdoors. I've tried with no luck to start from seed.

also while i start inside i give the seedlings slight gentle brushes of me fingertips from time to time.. dunno if this just bs mumbo jumbo or not.. theory be.. by gently bumping/brushing whatever ye want to call it.. itll promote stronger growth.. much like wind pushing seedlings side to side forcing them to grow a stronger base stem n roots.. idk.. i just do it

Our season is long enough here that it is easier to just plant them outside once it gets warm.

Ok so what soil should I put in the bottom of my raised garden? Don't want to buy a ton of bagged expensive stuff.

depends on the raised bed.. i do a sunken raised bed.. natural soil.. cow shit.. compost.. topped with soil/compost blend settled fer weeks on end..some rock dust.... soft but firm 18" of getting near gold.. well a few more seasons and me soil will be a decent silver.... didn't mulch last year but i did this year to see the difference.. not much difference imo.. but not enough data.. was hotter and very wet last year but cooler n a tad bit dryer this year

only thing thats changed fer me.. no greenhouse this year, i tore it down.. uv too high for cheap shit.. it basically destroyed the non uv treated plastic joints.. making the structure fall in on itself.. i managed rigging it with a few joints going out, but one by one they all basically went and i said **** dis....the non uv treated plastic was shot too.. ..i was going to buy a new one with bolt/screw joints.. just never got around to it.. holding off until i build something more permanent but i get distracted doing other shat.

Nice,

I am thinking a combo of Peat moss, vermiculite, and mushroom mulch on the bottom 15 or so inches. then outdoor garden moisture control for the top 5 inches or so.

Somebody told me you can buy vermiculite at the auto store for about a 1/5 of the price. Same thing just branded as an oil absorbant.

Make sure you mix that mushroom manure in well with other materials. Too much SMS or SMC can lead to a salty bed that seeds won't lay purchase to.

i forgot i also used coir year 1.. lots of those bricks...... rehydrated them in a wheelbarrow then mixed in the top/mid .. once i took down the greenhouse i wasnt into the garden as much this year.. so i didnt add an coir...

i didnt use vermiculite or moss.. i think i had read peat moss is better for acidic based plants.. i went for a more natural neutral.. thus i added coir..

also, the soil underneath the sunken bed is clay heavy so it retains water well..

You have to condition them, they don't like the all at once transfer.

Anyone starting seedlings yet?
I was thinking of starting a batch of Brussels sprouts this weekend inside.

Has anyone ever tried starting pumpkins and watermelons this early?

Anyone ever try growing Globe artichokes? If so, were they difficult to take care of?
