Garza actually really likes Chicago. The Cubs don't like his contract demands. They want to go around 3 years or so and Garza wants 5. He would be dumb to sign a low ball offer when pitching is weak in FA.

I stated this earlier in the thread, but if he really wants to help the team it is a simple situation. He takes the trade this season so that the Cubs can acquire more talent, then he signs back with the Cubs this winter. Win-win for both sides involved.

If that was the deal - and by the time I am reading the board and posting this we are already hearing the deal may fall through - but, if that was what we had coming back, I wouldn't care which other Cub was going. Who knows, if it was something on the Rangers' side (Ramirez most likely), then if they are truly still interested, the Cubs might be able to get them to give up Luke Jackson now. Swap Ramirez out for Jackson and call it a deal perhaps.
