I'm just going to eat a handful of Xanax and sleep for two days and hope that when I wake up, Garza is no longer a Cub. Somebody end the fuckin' misery :(

My question would be, given that they are obviously going to trade him, is there any chance they sign him again this winter? Would be the ideal situation for the Cubs considering Garza. Get something in return for him at the deadline, then sign him to a contract as a free agent.

It sounds like we are getting pantsed.

Awesome.

Awesome.

If we do wind up getting hosed, I think that resigning him would have been the better route. Still would like to keep him but I know why we aren't.

4:11pm: It's "mystery team" time again! A Cubs source tells Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times that a mystery NL team has joined the fray and may intercept Garza (Twitter link). Previous National League clubs that have been connected to Garza include the Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Rockies and Pirates. The Cardinals have been connected to Garza as well, but in a separate tweet, Wittenmyer adds that they are not the unnamed team in the mix.

that mystery team seems to always win out in FA and trades.. we shall see

From Bleacher Nation:
UPDATE 16 (5:17pm CT): A report from Jeff Wilson (Star-Telegram) suggests (but does not state explicitly outright) that the deal on the table is Garza and an unidentified Cubs player for Olt, Ramirez, Edwards, and Luis Sardinas. If true, I’d expect the other Cubs piece to be something fairly good, as Sardinas is a legit prospect (good enough that you could argue he’s the best prospect in the deal … hard to say who the “centerpiece” is). That six player deal would comport with the original Joe Davidson report (UPDATE 4).
Obviously a lot depends on who the other piece is in a deal, but that isn't a bad return to be honest.

Considering the other names on the Cubs roster that've buzzed around -- I don't think it even matters who the second Cubs player is. That would be a great haul for them. 4 top 15 prospects in the Rangers' system.

Sardinas worries me because even though he is a good prospect. They say he has a real bad work ethic and they don't see him getting stronger.

Sources: Cubs-Rangers deal for Garza hits snag, no longer a certainty. While teams still negotiating, Chicago seeking alternatives to Texas.

Yea so this going down until 31st i think. Cubs not going to drop price while teams not going to pay the price

Ramirez has a shoulder injury that could scare the Cubs off and Olt has known vision problems. I got a feeling the medicals didn't look good and they are feeling out there to see if they can get a package without red flags.

Just sign Garza stupid Cubs people!! He is better than anything we will get for him.

We brought in Theo to rape other GMs in trades like these. He better come through. There is no keeping Garza anymore.
