He seems to have decent instincts out there. That's about it. I just think it is too early and it is obvious he is here out of necessity and not because he is ready for the NHL. His foot speed is terrible and he gets lost a lot. He gets a pass though as he hasn't been playing in NA for two or more years like the rest of these guys. Expectations were higher for a lot of our forwards and I have been disappointed as a whole. Especially with guys like Brouwer and Bickell who have the tools but apparently lack the motivation or brains to put them to use. At this point I actually miss Versteeg and I was one of his biggest critics. He puts most of our forwards to shame. With his talent as well as his attitude. I am really just looking forward to next season more than anything else.

Great post. Especially agree about Versteeg, I wouldn't say I hated him but he frustrated me as well -- but no where close to the way Brouwer, Bickell, Frolik, and Stalberg have.

I would retain Frolik, Bickell, and Kopecky, that's probably about it. The first two only based on potential. Kopecky only because he has stepped up to fill the void missing - Brouwer just hasn't done that this year and it's extremely disappointing. Although it's hard to blame him, its not easy producing from the 4th line.

Enjoyable game to watch, it was a shame a ref had to decide the game with a questionable call. Suban skated to the penalty box and did some chirping to Toews, very amateurish.

Montreal is a lock to play the Bruins in the first round, Subans antics will get him an ass kicking in a 7 game series against the B's.

That's what everyone said about him in the Bruins 6 game regular season series with them... why would anyone risk an extra penalty in the playoffs?

He's turning into a great pest and for the first three games the Bruins played the Habs this season Lucic cared about nothing more than going after Subban... sounds like he's doing his job.

Like I said earlier... he has world class talent but until he stops the diving, whining and chirping he's going to turn into an unlikable guy.

Yes that was a Charmin soft call at the end of the game, no doubt. However, the Hawks had many opportunities. 0 for 6 on the power play? That's not kosher. They score just once on one of those, it doesn't even go to overtime.

I don't blame refs all that often. The exception is that 'Nucks-Hawks game earlier this season. That was disgusting. Last night was I thought pretty even officiating wise. They let some stuff go, they made some shit calls, but it seemed pretty even both sides.

1 goal on 74 shots (last two games) is not gonna cut it. We need to start burying more pucks in the net. Crawford has kept us competitive in these last two games.

Think i might be a hypocrite....but did all that theatrics by subban/price bug the shit outta anyone else? I like kanes celebrations but it must be the homer in me. I'm starting to sound like Grapes. Shit looked like the NFL out there.

They clinched the playoffs with the win, and he was happy he could win it for Price, since he stole the game for them. I had no problem with the celebration.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
My $.02:

Unless Kopecky is asking for a substantial raise, you keep him. If you look at him for what he is, rather than what you want him to be, he fills his role: He's willing to go into the corners and to the front of the net, he's willing to chirp at playes and get in people's faces, he can sometimes find the back of the net and has enough skill to play in the top 6 when needed (but shouldn't be his regular allotment). Plus, we're stuck with Hossa (IMHO not a bad thing), and the two have good chemistry.

Bickell: Christ, Allah, and Odin, I thought Buff played soft for his size. I was high on him last year but man has he disapointed this year. He's one guy I'd let walk in a heartbeat.

Crawford: Resign. Him.

Brouwer: Played himself out of a raise this year. His hits are nice, and we do need a physical presence, but it seems like he's in Q's doghouse, and thus, if we keep him he's bottom 6. Honestly, I wouldn't be against keeping him on the cheap if he's still willing to hit--something most of the rest of the team seems allergic to.

Keith: Was he too busy polishing his Norris Trophy this summer that he forgot how to pass? And is it just me or does everyone else cringe when he shoots because you know it will go right into someone's leg causing a breakaway or an odd-man rush? IMHO he's the biggest dissapointment of the team this year. Yes, you can say that it was dissapointing that Brouwer, Bickell, Dowell, and to a lesser extent Kopecky couldn't elevate their games to replace Ladd, Byfuglien, and Burish. But Keith failed to step up to his own level and opened up a hole in our D that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Dowell: I'll take him as a 3rd line/4th liner on the cheap next year.

Johnson: Someone who can win draws other than Toews? I'll take him on the cheap.

Campoli: We won that trade.

Campbell: While I know his contract hurts, He's not been the problem this year. IMHO based on output, Keith and to a lesser extent Hjalmarrson have provided less bang for the buck.

Leddy: I like the promise he shows.

Hammer: Sgt. Sopel has taught him well, but IMHO not worth the 3+mil we're paying him at this point.

Seabs: Best D-man we've had all year. Despite the blasphemy, I would not at all be upset if when Sharp came back he keeps his A and Keith loses his.

Hendry: Something tells me we're going to lose him, which is a shame. IMHO was the perfect 7th D-man/13th forward: Cheap and steady enought that you never really noticed him, and as such, knew that he wasn't hurting the team by his presence.

Scott: If only he played with more of a mean streak.

Hossa: If only Boynton didn't take him out. Despite his output being less than expected, his 27 (?) goals were not the problem this year.

Sharp: Resign. Him. The definition of "Highway Robbery"

Toews: My only complaint about him this year was that he needed to get pissed off publically a lot sooner than he did. Other than that, stellar year by the Captian.

Kane: Started slow but so far is having a good year.

You have those two backwards. Kane started on fire with Hossa, while Toews, as per his norm, when 10 plus games without a goal to start the Season.

Kane was injured with a high ankle sprain which is still often effecting him. Without that injury, I'm not sure he doesn't hit 100pts this year.

Without Toews starting like complete ass I'm not sure he doesn't hit 100pts this year.

So if those two ever both put a complete season in, we should see huge dividends.

I think alot of the roleplayers started out well/contributing and as RK said, Toews started slow, Hjarll slow, Campbell out, Bolland very slow (then hurt again, with Kruger here to now replace him)...then Hoss/Kane injuries. Don't even have to getinto Keith's season, we all see it.

And now...the role guys (as mentioned before) have been on this massive goal drought.

Frolik - 2g - 48gms

Brouwer- 0g - 22gms

Bickell- 1g - 11gms

Kopecky- 1g - 10gms

Dowell - 1g - 38gms

Stalberg-2g - 12gms

I didn't count Scott, Pisani,Johnson or Kruger - even though Kruger is here to replace Bolland - since they don't get any key/big minutes. This group has all had plenty of opportunities on the PP, playing with Kane/Hossa at different times.

I do find it humorous that Q trusts Kruger with minutes more than he did with Skille

then again, Skille wasn't replacing Bolland

Maybe he would if he were given more opportunities to start over useless Pisani.

...and that's EXACTLY why it was NOT....

Foley is so old he couldn't figure out which goalie was ours, Price or Crawford.... Someone in chat was surprised he didn't call Crawford, Belfour....

He has gotten really bad. Used to love the guy, but his time has come.
