I'm wondering if they try Bickell there or they go out and find some cheap experience that wants to win.

Either way Ladd is the hardest cog to replace right now. Sucks losing him big time.
I've been saying this all along, and further DO NOT understand this signing. Still a bullshit signing...no one will convince me otherwise.

For cap purposes, the Hawks needed a warm body that was willing to ride the pine for as little money as possible. John Scott stepped up to the plate.

Now let's move on with our lives.

There's PLENTY of warm bodies who would have made the minimum to have a little more hockey skill than this WWE buffoon.

Nolan Yonkman? Brad May? Tim Conboy? That's what you're looking at at $512k.

The thing is that he's improving and it's shown since his return from being a healthy scratch. RK said Kane and Toews said that they liked him in the line up, probably makes them play more confident out there and I'd assume others on the team feel the same.

Not much more you could ask for for league minimum... and yea you'd rather have Eager but he's making 2x what Scott is making.

His skating looks like it's improved too... he still has hands of stone and can't skate backwards but as long as he's not hurting the team on the scoreboard, I think he's doing just fine.

Yes, but Eager also does everything 2x better except fight, which is the one thing you don't really need to do well at, just need to show up. And the fact is, that eager probably isn't even really a factor there because of the concussions, he's had 1.5 fights this season.

Well unless you could find 700K extra to pay a guy like Eager (Hawks obviously couldn't) what other options do you have for a 4th line league minimum player?

I think for the money and cap situation he fits in just fine.

Actually they have enough cap space. It just makes it tighter. And at the time they didn't think they would because they thought they would be resigning Niemi. Do you think in hindsight with everything that went down, they wouldn't prefer Eager at his price, over Scott? Especially with Scott playing only as a forward now?

yes, but they didn't have to sign Pisani...they've seen his injury history, why not just sign Sami Salo?

They could have signed him for "half" of the league minimum because he is pretty much half of a man now, LOL!

Sure he is good at fighting.

That is it.

Is he the reason we lose games? No. Is he the reason we win games? No.

He's in the lineup to make sure things don't get out of hand, but when the other team doesn't dress a heavy weight like Dallas, then what is his purpose? To be "physically intimidating"? Sorry, but with the instigator penalty other teams would want him to jump them as all they have to do is "turtle" and then they would have a nice power play.

All in all, do I think he's fun to watch fight? Hell yeah, but I don't think we need to get carried away with thinking anything more.

If they wouldn't have waved off the goal last night he would have been part of the reason they won! He's on pace for a career high 3 points now!
