So Cal by way of Northside
Nothing Ben does matters unless he’s got a running game. Swift ain’t it.

Good lord! Burden would have been a top 10 pick if he came out after 2023. He couldn’t throw the ball to himself in 2024.

Anyone bitching about him should log off and quit posting.

Jeremiah says the BC kid is capable of starting day one in the NFL.

Turner played edge two years and inside last year. Allen is going to be moving him around.

I have no idea if they all work out but some of the bitching is fucking hilarious.

The Bears finally look like they’re going to be able play real NFL offense with multiple ways to attack defenses but somehow it is perceived as a negative.

Burden is a playmaker. Bears have drafted two guys with outstanding traits in a couple areas on offense.

No one's bitching about the player. It's puzzling to pick up your 4th-5th passing option in the second round

Not if you’re actually interested in getting the best players and also allowing the new head coach to realize his vision on offense.

They told you they needed a slot. Oz is on a one year deal. A player that was touted to go top 10 prior to last college season falls into their laps, and they took him.

I knew the minute New England took Henderson, he would be the pick. I read somewhere that they really liked Burden and would consider moving up for him.

I think their cluster at 39 was Henderson, Burden, and Judkins.

In 11, they’re going to be a handful.

In 12, they’re going to be a handful.

In 00, 01, and 02, they’re going to be a handful.

You draft enough weapons so teams have to account for everyone in most formations.

Its a tough concept for Bears fans to understand when management tries have more than 2 good players on offense

Burden—home run. Didn't NEED him but wow did our WR room get better.
Trapilo—6th ranked OT, immediate competition at LT, big dude, doesn't commit fouls, protects well, love it.
Turner—6th ranked DT, high motor, big dude, plays all of the DL positions, flexibility, love it.

Adding these three (the trade down a VERY nice move) to Loveland? We are on FIRE.
I love that we traded down and still got the kind of players they were likely targeting anyway. Burden seems like a value pick as another weapon that we can try to turn into a prime Deebo or something.

The scouting report on Trapilo looks promising. He's apparently a pro-level pass protector right now who needs a year rise to the level of starting LT. That's what we need right now with Braxton Jones in a contract year.

The signing of Odeyingbo and drafting of Turner seems to signal that Dennis Allen wants to move guys all over the defensive front.

Poles truly went BPA at least the first 2 picks with Loveland/Burden which is cool by me. The RB's we wanted were gone at 39 so easy call.
Not sure Turner will be moving around as he put on 30 pounds before the 2024 season so may just be depth for when Billings/Jarett slow down.
BC kid is solid OT depth, the new Marc Colombo.

Yea it does feel like this draft was one pick away from being great to me (not them). Banks and Henderson would've been a crazy haul

That, and/or making damn sure that his young franchise QB has weapons for days, which he now does. That combined with the coaching hire and the upgrades to the interior line (and adding Trapilo in the 2nd to the mix on the line) shows that Poles isn't fucking around when it comes Caleb's development. At least not anymore.

B. Yea it does feel like this draft was one pick away from being great to me (not them). Banks and Henderson would've been a crazy haul
A. I answered that in another post

B. Other teams will draft players you want. It happens. It really depends on how the Bears graded out the players and what the Bears really felt their needs were, as opposed to the fans.

I wanted the Bears to draft Green, but none of us know how this team and these players will perform. They could turn out to be pro-bowlers...no idea.

I think almost everyone knows I wanted Banks. I’m almost positive Henderson would have been the pick at 39 too.

I would have happy with Henderson too but actually preferred Judkins.

Here’s the thing, there are still a bunch of really good running backs available and some intriguing edge players.

If Burden had a good QB last season, he’s gone way before 39.

Loveland had to deal with shit at QB his entire college career as well.

The Loveland pick was getting nothing but love on the NFL Network XM channel yesterday. One guy mentioned the Director of the East West game felt he was the number two prospect in the whole draft. Almost everyone said he’s a better fit for what Johnson wants to do too.

Plus, everyone loves the actual person. Gritty, talented hard worker…
