*cough* injuries *cough*Except for the past two seasons
Well Ray Allen,Paul Pierce, and KG were putting up great stats and then they all dropped off when they went to the celtics..they really didnt devolve they just fit into their role which was less than the role they took on on their other teams..bad example i know but i think that deng has the capability to be a top guy..but i dont think making him less of an option with great players around him(especially a PG like rose) would make the team worse..especially if deng isnt forced to take as many shots or try to score as much which may help his shooting % and TO rate...but i see what you're saying with batum...but idk if Batum is good enough to be the #1 option on a team like the one deng is on with boozer, noah, and rose..maybe a possibilityI think you mistook what I said...I think if you are basically telling a player to devolve it is making the team worse in a way. I'd rather bring in a guy like Batum and tell him "Hey you're the 3rd or 4th guy now, but we want/expect you to grow into the 1st or 2nd option in the coming seasons. I like that mindset better than telling a guy who was the 1st or 2nd option that he basically couldn't hack it and he is essentially being demoted to a lower option.
Deng will be fineHopefully.....Maybe....
wow@that statline although deng was somewhat close to that(except PPG wise) as a primary option before his injury....but we have no idea if Batum will become that....hopefully he will but you just dont know...its up to himIn all honesty, I think Batum at his peak is more of a 20-23 PPG/6-7/rpg/3-4apg/1-2spg guy, but I'm really high on the kid. Basically I think he will be a more well rounded version of Danny Granger...except not quite the pure scorer that Granger is.
