He started the day ranked 47th in the NFL in yards. Is that a disappointment?
Why are lower ranked 1st round WR’s doing more?
Rome has a chance to have the most receptions by a rookie WR in Bears history. (12 more)

Rome has the chance to finish 2nd in WR rookie yards for a Bear. (135 more)

Rome has a chance to be Top 10 in TDs as a Bears rookie WR. (1 more)

All of that means nothing considering this organization has been garbage on offense for decades. That’s not how receivers are judged, they are compared to the peers in their draft class

This type of logic escapes me. I don't care about Bears franchise rookie records, especially when it comes to the passing game. Caleb Williams just topped Chuckin' Charlie O'Rourke's 1941 TD record....who cares? The funny thing with Rome's records is that he's trying to break Harlon Hill's 1954 receiving marks. How is that relevant to anything?

Overall, yes. It's not all his fault, but for a top 10 pick, I would have expected more. We could have traded back and gotten Brian Thomas or Ladd McConkey for talent as good or better than Rome.

He has gotten open a lot this season, which is encouraging... but he either hasn't gotten the ball or not made the most of opportunities when it does go his way. Maybe with better coaching and system, he'll look better next year.
I personally don’t think it’s disappointing. He’s exactly where I expected him to be as a rookie on a bad team with Moore and Allen ahead of him on the depth chart. You mention McConkey and Thomas but they aren’t competing for targets. That plays a big difference.

Rookie WR generally struggle even 1st rounders. Team is overall a mess. What you don’t want to see is regression next year but improvement. That’s when you can judge him more fairly.

He’s not competing for reps unless you meant competing for targets

Rome has 700 yards and would be close to 1000 yards if Caleb didnt miss so many deep balls. That is while playing with 2 1k yard WRS. So Rome is fine.

Most of the other rookie WRs are the clear No 1 or 2 on their team.

That’s great and all but it doesn’t address his issues

Aren’t you the r e t a r d that was caping for poles last week?
I have yet to see a cogent football thought appear in any of discplayer's postings. His grasp on reality is tenuous at best. 9 game losing streak in year 3 of a 'rebuild' with perhaps the worst coaching staff in Bears history, and discplayer still isn't sure if we can judge Ryan Poles because too many players are injured. I don't get it.

Doesn't that happen all the time? McConkey and Thomas are having great years.

I think we should keep in context that he is one of three good targets to give the ball to, on an offense that struggles alongside a rookie QB that struggles. Do the Chargers and Jaguars have a Moore and Allen to take targets away? I can't credit the jaguars for being run well, but the Chargers hired a coach that knew what he wanted to do on offense and had a realistic plan to do it, with a successful veteran QB.

Odunze is doing just fine for a rookie WR on a team that took a step backwards as a whole.

He looks like his mind is elsewhere sometimes but it's way too soon to write him off. Better preparation and better concentration plus his unquestionable talent and he could be a star in this league.

I never said to write him off. I was hoping he would make an instant impact and he simply hasn’t for several reasons, some that aren’t his and some that are his fault.

Unfortunately the Bears overall dysfunction as well as poor QB play makes it hard to really judge many things in this offense. Just look at cole kmet this year, are we going to suddenly grade him as a player based on this years production?

The bears got a HOF player in keenan allen and he was force fed the ball a lot in early goings. He was running routes that realistically should have been run by Odunze due to keenan's heel and lack of speed.

They had an OC that was a complete buffoon. They have an OL that can't block long enough for developing routes, and has been ravaged with injuries.

I don't see how it is fair to compare him to almost anyone other than maybe Brock Bowers who is in a worse situation. Nabers is in an awful situation but due to NYG having no weapons he should really be the focus.
