The District was wonderful once we got the glitches worked out. A lot of positives.

Suggestion: I would like to sing the anthems next year.

I failed to request that ahead of time and I also failed to send you a sample, but I would have enjoyed doing that and I don't suck. I am kind of a big guy with a good voice after all
<

I also would have like to hear O Canada and the Star Spangled Banner instead of what we got. (I am not taking anything away from the singer though, I know he is a pro)

Apparently there is a law that the anthem cannot be played twice in one day in the same building. I've seen it done before, but the BMO will not let us do it. That is something Gordon will not budge on.

I stopped by the District on Fri and told them 125 definite, possibly more. What hurt was when everyone descended upon them.

I think that if people committed to have guests there and they did not show or committed to play and did not make it, they should honor that commitment and pay you for the tickets / jerseys. Stiffing a charity = not cool. My 2c.

Beat me to it. You know who they are Bob. Send them emails and harass them. It's not like the money is going in to your pockets. If they have any respect at all, they will pony up the cash.

I have never heard that, Bob. It is interesting. This is the only "law" I can find governing the national anthem. Regardless, I wish we could have heard it...that is all.

36 USC Sec. 301 01/03/2012 (112-90)

-EXPCITE-

TITLE 36 - PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES, CEREMONIES, AND

ORGANIZATIONS

Subtitle I - Patriotic and National Observances and Ceremonies

Part A - Observances and Ceremonies

CHAPTER 3 - NATIONAL ANTHEM, MOTTO, FLORAL EMBLEM1A\1\ MARCH, AND

TREE

-HEAD-

Sec. 301. National anthem

-STATUTE-

(a) Designation. - The composition consisting of the words and

music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.

(
<
Conduct During Playing. - During a rendition of the national

anthem -

(1) when the flag is displayed -

(A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at

the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until

the last note;

(
<
members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present

but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner

provided for individuals in uniform; and

at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not

in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with

their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand

being over the heart; and

(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face

toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the

flag were displayed.

Wow...crazy. I have to think that whatever law makers put a limit on the number of times we can play our national anthem (if true) definitely have too much time on their hands and their jobs need to be scaled back and considered part time.

IHF can share more on it. This is the only place where I've had a issue with it, but BMO gave me a firm no.

It is true that management within the BMO will not allow the national anthem twice in one day and it is not a topic of consideration.

With that being said we still had God Bless America sung which I believe is done in Philly in lieu of the anthem.

We also decided to have some fun with it by having the Canadian Anthem sung on behalf of Rex and Mark Bernard. We even gave

Sexy Rexy his own recognition prior to it being sung.

If it's their rule they aren't going to persue it. They break their back enough for the event. I thought the anthems were fine. Specially Oh Canada!

I certainly wasn't complaining, don't get me wrong. I just forgot to ask who would be singing them and whether or not I could do so (or even try out for Bob).

There's always next year...(says the Cubs fan)

Seriously though, I would love to have that honor. I will even hide my atheism and sing God Bless America as I like that song too, and it is a hell of a lot easier than the Star Spangled Banner (which is sung in 12th).

Dr T does a lot for Skate, and I am hesitant to ask him to step aside. Perhaps a duet? We have a year to think about it.

I can only think of one other thing they said "no" to when we asked, and that was wearing Skate stickers on their helmets.

They are very accommodating!

The District was good. Good food, good servers, even with the fact they were overwhelmed and over worked, they still had a smile on their faces, and were quite concerned with the customer. All of them. Besides being a little haggard, they were great. I look forward to going there again. I may make a trip or 2 out there specifically to go there.

Yes Bob, if anyone has stiffed, please let them know. If I stiffed, I would like to be notified so I could rectify the problem.

LaGrange to watch my high school get their butts kicked in the football state semifinal playoff game with my family. In retrospect I wish I would have stayed to hang out with you guys.

My sisters were happy to spend time with me so it's all good.

That makes sense. I was looking forward to chatting with you. Next screw your old school.

This is not true. there is no law, I said it last year when it came up as well, it's an old wives tale as I've heard it as an excuse for other events once or twice as well so it's not just the BMO, but it's also BS imo but as others have said for what they do we can't complain about this one...

I've attended and participated in events where this isn't true many times... Things like NCAA hoops tourney, Olympics Track & Field & Swimming winners on the same day & hockey tourneys. Not sure why some think this, but it's simply not true unless it's a RFD law, the BMO simply doesn't want it for whatever reason.

I am keeping track of ideas, suggestions, hopes, dreams on a list. I will submit them to the powers to be long before next years planning begins. As a community and in the thought of Becky, Tom and any other family that has to go through this terrible disease, and really any other type of Cancer for that matter, lets do what ever we can to continue making Skate grow, and evolve into what could be even more special than it is now.

That's cool. Thanks for taking the time to explain his role.

Likewise. I wanted to compare beard grooming tips
<

It was a neat game until halftime actually. Then one of Lyons Township's "stars" started screwing up and the Mount Carmel QB, Dick Butkis' grandkid, took it to em. 45-10 final....ouch.

I was wondering where you went. It was Ironic Lake Zurich beat Rockford while we were in Rockford. LOL

Oh, I am just letting it go. Maybe for the winter. I may trim up a bit, but the goatee for sure is gonna keep going.

Unless a job pops up that needs a fresh shave. And it better pay well.
