This is soooo sad. My thoughts and my love to the family and everyone who was close to Tom. I know there were a hell of a lot.

I didn't have to meet Tom in person to know what type of person he was. He made that loud and clear when I got to know him on the O boards and then on these ones. I will never forget the day a package arrived for me from Chicago and in it were an assortment of Blackhawks memorabilia from the 1st convention and a few other things. I have worn the pin that Tom sent me in that package almost everyday since. Through the hockey season and beyond. It ment a lot to me and he knew it. He knew I wanted to be at that convention so bad but due to finances that it was impossible. In a sense he brought the convention to me..fucking unbelievable.

The number of times he invited me to come down to Chicago and stay at his families home. What type of person does that to a stranger that one meets over the internet? One hell of great person..that's who.

What type of person makes another person cry and feel like they lost a dear friend even though they had never shaken hands? Tom Jacobson..that's who. One of a kind.

This is such an amazing story and an amazing man. Was so glad to have him a part of IHN and have many of his friends here that are much like him.

I posted this on Tom's facebook wall, but I think it should be here as well with his blackhawk family:

When I first joined the Blackhawk message boards, I didn't know any of the posters. Then at a game, I went outside between periods and recognized the TBird jersey. I went up and introduced myself and you introduced me to whom was out there and from that day forward I was able to extend my Blackhawk family and meet other puckheads, just like myself. Thank you Tom. RIP.

Thanks to all 30 some people that showed up and those that wanted too and couldn't. You will always be an extended family to all of us. It's times like these that we all see what type of family we have here. Although we have our differences and often butt heads at times, we are in fact a great group of people. I am honored too call you my friends and am sure Tom was with us in spirit.

Amy, Nicole and Lauren (we really missed you lauren) you are part of our family. If you need anything at all, and I mean ANYTHING, all you need to do is ask. We are 100% here for you during this time of need. This has been a very trying week and many challenges are yet to come, but we will all get through this together.

Why, Because that's what friends and families do. We rally to help each other. We have a shoulder for each other to cry on. We are just like HULKA the BIG TOE!

Thanks again and we will see you all on Tuesday when we celebrate the life of a great Friend, Husband and Father.

I am sorry that I have not seen this thread until today. I feel truely saddened. Although I never knew the man, I enjoyed reading his posts and thought he seemed a decent gentleman. My prayers go out to his family.

Still can't believe this, to be honest... How old was Tbird? Just seems way too young...

Great to see the nice turnout on behalf of Tom. As always it is great to get the group together but not under these circumstances. Having Amy and Nicole show up was the icing on the cake.

When the chips are on the table one thing is certain, we are all here for one another.

Amy shared with me last night that she has not even seen this thread. She said she is going to take an evening, get a bottle of wine and spend time reading all that we have shared when she can be alone and she is ready to do so.
