And, again, I say....so what? That record has NOTHING to do with Oduya....to keep stating that makes it seem like you're equating the acquisition of #27 to that record, and that's is simply not the case. Has he helped? Of course. But to infer that he is the REASON for that record is just plain stupid...

Where did I "infer" that the record was because of him?

i think what pmxc means is hes a very underrated (especially by some here last year) dman around the league and really solidifies our 2nd paring extremely well and provides some comfort for Hammer not only in moving the puck but both being swedes. I wanted Oduya back when NJ was dangling him but ATL got him (not even sure we tried to offer for him), but i was super happy we got him last year.

he isnt the sole reason for such a great record, but the #2 pairing on D being a god tandem is as elusive and important as the #2 C... now we have both since Bolland is finally getting a shot. I like Kruger a lot, but he still has room to grow, and he has improved a shit ton this season, but I have missed Bolland the past two games for sure.

Story on Hawks' record on NPR's All Things Considered this afternoon.

http://www.npr.org/2...-in-nhl-history

Sports items are rare on NPR, usually only like championships mentioned at the end of news updates. oh..... Let's go Hawks!!!

No it isnt but it does have the effect of meaning dick, just like our record since acquiring Oduya

Why do you take the Oduay record so seriously? It is just a stat that is interesting in nature of itself but by no means does it imply it is directly related to him.

Similiar to the state of going 330 some odd days without a regulation loss. Factor in the lockout and it is not that big of a deal but it is interesting nonetheless.

I will say this though, the Oduya acquistion has proven to be extremely beneficial to this team.

It's a bit of a joke at this point...but I'm not as big of a fan as some are..and wouldn't be heartbroken if he left.

I just think he's "over rated" as some sort of shut down player. The fact some think he stops Sedin (isn't true...he produces at the same PPG vs Bolland as everyone else in the playoffs)....just is blown out of proportion.

My biggest frustration of him as a player is I haven't seen any physical improvement out of him in the 7yrs in the league.

I've heard Kane get criticised during his early years about his partying..but I've seen him get bigger, stronger, faster in the off seasons.

Toews has physically gotten stronger since coming into the league.

Leddy, Kruger both physically have gotten bigger/stronger

Frolik, Bickell, Stalberg...all went to Europe to get better in the off season (as Kane, Oduya did)

Crawford worked on his game/quickness this off season.

There's no reason, IMO...he couldn't have put on 10-15lbs of muscle in the last 7yrs. I think some strength added would improve his board play, his pathetic face off percentage, and maybe limit some of his injuries/add a physical element to the game. There's no reason (again, IMO) he can't be more of a Mike Fisher type of player - where offensively, they're similar...but he's much more physically stronger of a player

I think Bolland has a good head for the game. I know Q loves the guy...I just really question what he's ever done to add to his game, as most other players have done in Chicago.

Just as the loss of Campbell hurt them.

I'd still rather have Campbell than Oduya, for only 3 mil more.
