Bring up Makarov please. I know his phenomenal training camp did not equal a consistent pre-season but the kid has all the ability, great skater, strong on the back and fore check, hard on the puck, good speed, good hands. He was stuck getting no minuets in the RSL/KHL because they favor veterans in that league and all Igor needs is a chance. Plus his NHL salary is very cap friendly.

2 weeks....well I think we can be fine for that time because of our depth on offense.

Only problem is that the depth hasn't shown up yet. If Toews, Kane, and Brouwer were scoring, I wouldn't be as worried with Hossa out, as I currently am. Sharpie is making things happen, but he's only one guy. So, it will definitely be interesting to see who finally steps up to keep us winning.

Damn shame bonuses played a part in Laddy being dealt.

He'd look awfully nice right about now.

Damn, i totally forgot about Makarov...

I wouldn't mind seeing him come up

IMO, It will be either Klinkhammer, Makarov, or Potulny

Most likely potulny since he has a significant clump of NHL playing time, and has chemistry with Pisani

I actually don't mind this call-up. It might come as a suprise to a lot of people and some might get all pissy as they are want to do but this makes some sense. First, I expect it to potentially be a revolving door here while filling Hossa's roster spot. We could end up seeing 3-4 guys in the next 2 weeks depending on their play. Second, and more to the point about Smith, he has probably been the most consistent 2-way player for the Icehogs up to this point in the season. He is responsible on D and can provide some offensive punch as well. He might not be the sexy name and doesn't have the "hype" or the "fan buzz" that some other names do, but he MIGHT be a great fit in this situation. I place the emphasis on MIGHT and ask for patience before people freak the **** out as usual. A plea for peace, gotta be pro-active right? ;)

I liked how Smith played in the preseason. :dunno: We'll see how it goes, but there's no replacing Hossa. Multiple players have to raise their game beyond expectations, and in other cases, raise their game to expectations.

bolland has to show up to the games atleast

kane has to score even strength

and toews needs to produce

hearing how toews went off a few nights back on the team, makes me want to tell him to look in the mirror as well.

and anyone who says "oh but he is our capt and leader and has so much heart" needs to think before writing that because i see it coming from a mile away.

As far as stormbolters post, he is right, we have to deal with it, and whoever is playing well will be coming up "revolving door" action.

now with hossas injury, im not breathing a sigh of relief because he will be out only 2 weeks. this could linger.

Can't disagree. The only Hawks that seemed ready to play this season were Hossa and Sharpie. However the season is still young, and I have no doubt that they will get it together very soon. With all that said I believe they are still in first place, so there's really no need for concern. I like what I see from some od the young guys, and it looks like Turco will be just fine between the pipes.

We are actually in last place in the division going off point percentage.

The standings show both the Hawks and Nashville tied for first with 13 points, I don't really know what you're looking at.
