All hail the next Bears QB, as always, destined to be the best QB ever, until, when, he is traded for a 6th round pick.
LMAO, Bears fans never learn.

If the Bears are not a perennial playoff team and viewed as a SB contender year in and year out then Poles should be banished from the NFL

Nah.

If they somehow **** up the best they have been set up in the Super Bowl era, just banish the Chicago Bears from the NFL and move the White Sox to Solider Field.

It's not fair to say "he's been handed" a winning lottery ticket. He's the one who sold off guys like Mack and Smith, cut costs to give the team a relatively clean cap starting last year and he's the one who made the deal with Carolina, demanding Moore in the trade which helped Carolina's offense be atrocious. He's had quite the hand in creating his own luck here.
I don’t think tearing down an aging team with expensive vets is difficult. That was the easy part. Touché on the DJM trade tho and credit to poles for that.

And for the record, I don’t dislike poles. But I think it’s fair to have high expectations given the circumstances.

It's a more disgusting habit than cigarettes, but we do have literally everyone backing this one so.....

Also getting a 6th round pick for a former Bear QB is the best trade value a Bear QB has had in decades.

Progress!!!

And yet if an Indy defender catches a ball that goes through his hands, history is rewritten. Ditto if Mooney doesn’t bobble a game winning pass vs Washington.

Poles undoubtedly set them up to get here but It also took a ton of luck.

And when he’s inducted into the HOf you’re going to be so mad you pretended to be a Lions fan just because a bears fan was mean to you 😂

My favorite teams

The rest of the nfl would pick Caleb too. Why are you applauding a decision 32 other teams would make? Also, when did you flip?
There's been all sorts of talk lately about Jayden Daniels being number one and since the combine it's been McCarthy. Orlovsky is one of the bigger voices that said the Bears should take Jayden Daniels.

Harbaugh is saying he's the best QB obviously he's going to be the biggest cheerleader but there's the proverbial noise machine out saying the Bears would be making a mistake blah blah.

As far as me flipping, I'm not, I'm caving to the inevitably of Caleb Williams and trying to be as optimistic as I can about him. Highlight as many positives as I can go with the consensus that he's a generational talent and just assume that they're right about him and I'm wrong. There's plenty to like but I prefer guys that live in the pocket.

They won a national championship, and beat top competition. I don't think there is much to criticize if only because JJ grows into a good NFL starter. Harbough provided the structure that got McCarthy in position to be a top QB prospect for the pros. Isn't that how a good system should work?

That being said, I am happy to hear that Poles is going after the undisputed best prospect. Imagine if the Jaguars picked Wilson instead of Lawrence because of how he threw in gym shorts!
They had a record 18 players invited to the NFL combine.

Ryan Poles has been handed a winning lotto ticket as an NFL GM. Two years of #1 overall, plethora of cap space, not having to rush into an QB cuz of Fields and one of the highest touted rookie QBs of all time falling right in his lap. Not even Ryan Pace could **** this situation up. If the Bears are not a perennial playoff team and viewed as a SB contender year in and year out then Poles should be banished from the NFL

Actually Poles earned all that via gutting the shitty team to create the cap space and via the brilliant trade with Carolina. He wasn't handed anything really. He created all this fortune. Of course, plenty of luck is involved too.

Congratulations to the Lions for getting to the NFC Title game in the worst conference in 30 years. It only took historically weak QBs in the NFC for you to finally choke away your one chance at getting to the Super Bowl.

Might want to play a game or two in 2024 before praising Poles to the sky. So far, his win/loss record is pretty bad.

Alum and Fan. Go Blue. Allow me to wear this fan hat a moment longer before taking it off to remove these clear and obvious biases.

Ok, I am with you entirely. But in the pros, there are multiple teams that like to wear you down with a heavy rushing attack. His passes per game will definitely go up, but the strategy of "the more we run, the more we win" works with guys like CMC, Henry, and will be the attempted strategy for Saquon in Philly. KC will have great success if Pacheco becomes that sort of guy for them through the rest of his career, which will be goddang brilliant for Mahomes. That doesnt have to mean that the quarterback is so limited that he can't win with his arm, but instead, his path will be to prove that he can throw daggers against a tired defense at the pro level.

Without the fan bias, I think that JJ as a prospect projects to be like Jimmy G and Kirk Cousins - good enough to win games, not good enough to win the championship without the rest of the team being better than him. He will always be competitive because he technically doesnt do anything wrong. I think he is good enough, within the boundaries that I describe above, but I wouldn't want to draft him to the Bears for that reason; you cant afford the contracts that make every other player better than your QB. He doesn't really have a "special talent" that makes the QB himself a problem for the defense to handle, whether that is game-breaking athleticism or a habit of devilish throws in diminishing windows.

With the fan bias (and Michigan hat firmly back atop my head), I hope he goes to New England and becomes the Bears Super Bowl rival over the next 20 years.
To my non-biased eye.............JJ is Alex Smith.
Smart QB.
Has some mobility.
Good but not great arm.
Mid-tier NFL starting potential.
Much like Smith will be over drafted.

You are right but the Bears of the last 3 decades would have overthink it and probably go with Maye or Nix.

So your position is that when Poles traded with Carolina he knew he was be awarded the #1 overall pick for the 2nd year in a row?

You left me............................speechless.

Poor guy hasn't even been drafted yet, and yet if he doesn't make a deep playoff run he is a failure.............
