The whining is strong with this thread.

Weather down here has been crazy today. Was in a t shirt playing with my kids down by the river around 1 this afternoon. (70's) Now it's in the 20's with a brutal wind and going to the teens. Went from Texas weather to Iowa weather in less than 5 hours.

Try driving to get beer when everything is covered in ice and you can only go 15 mph in your badass 4x4.

Been there and got the t-shirt. (minus the badass 4 x 4)

How many inches thick is the ice now?

That's the problem, it's thin and hard to see. Things look ok but they're not.

Love those idiots in their 4x4's that think they can go 60 on black ice. Raised 34 inches.........stop and go over a speed bump at 2 miles an hour.......railroad tracks require a full stop. But can drive 80 on black ice cause they have a 4x4.

Mine is an F350 that came out of the factory badass. Damn thing is a 96 with 94000 miles. It eats snow being it has an 8ft Boss plow but ice sucks. This kind of weather my other trucks don't move.

A couple years ago we had 4 inch thick ice here. Even the parked cars were sliding off the road. Didn't drive anywhere for 3 days. Problem with black ice like you have now are all the idiots that think everything is OK. They're the guys you wave at when you pass them as they're in the ditch.

Did a year in the Middle East (it gets cold there), followed by three years in AZ then three years in Hawaii. Then my last year before I retired they sent me to Omaha to finish at USSTRATCOM. IT ALMOST KILLED ME. I got there in Nov and was not prepared. I had a two wheel dive Tacoma and the first snow I could not go up hill. I went to lowes and bought eight 50 pound bags of sand to throw in the bed, then at least I could drive. It was tough to acclimate after a decade away from the cold. I don't miss it.

They wanted us to work yesterday night, after getting off in the morning. Things are backed up though because of the weather. Now half the guys went in today, and the other half goes in tomorrow morning. Sucks, I go in tomorrow AM, then have to return at midnight. I wasn't volunteering for today though. It's going to be cold both days, so I might as well watch football and get away from -30 degree wind chills.

There are restaurants around here that also have patios. Of course the patios are closed in the winter because only a Special person would want to eat a meal in a blizzard.

The one that worked an 8 hour shift should be commended for having a good work ethic, I think you should fire the rest of those pansie asses. :smug2:

Well winter finally arrived on the Gulf Coast. 30 degrees this morning. Couldn't where shorts and flip flops to the grocery store yesterday. Haven't had snow since 2008, we are probably due some flurries.

At this point, if it was 30 degrees here, I would consider wearing shorts.
