I don’t understand the desire to make a statement on a player in year 1. This doesn’t define anyone’s career. Let a few years go by and more conclusions can be drawn.

Yep. Look at Goff. He was pretty good in LA but has gone to another level while in Detroit. Baker Mayfield has grown a ton from when he was first drafted by Cleveland to where he is now in Tampa. This season the dude threw for 4500 yards, 41 TD's and 16 int's. Those numbers are as good as any QB's numbers in the league. This is Baker's 7th year in the NFL.
On the flip side, most people would agree that CJ Stroud regressed this year after a tremendous rookie year.
Success is rarely a straight line. You should have opinions on players after their first year but understand that player is far from a finished product and predicting what they will ultimately become is close to impossible.

Goff had 4700 yards and 32 td's his 3rd year in the league.
He was always good, the "other level" is that he now has 5 pro bowl OL, the best run game in the nfl, a top 10 wr, a top 10 TE, etc etc.
When he gets pressured he still looks like old jared goff. He's very good when things are rolling well for him and his offense, he was drafted #1 overall for a reason
