Adam Schefter says 'nevermind' forgets penile girth is categorized into 6 month eras, making it impossible to compare Cutler to McMahon. Carry on.
Not necessarily the run game and defense because they are solid, just better oline and an offensive minded coach like Ditka which we have now.So the defense and running game are a hindrance for Cutler. If those were improved the Bears would be Super Bowl bound with Cutler playing similar to last year
So what? The average amount of TD's thrown was lower and the average of ints was higher. The average overall rating was also much lower so McMahon's rating of 82 in '85 would put him in the top 10 while Cutler's rating of 81 last year put him at #19 so obviously McMahon ranked higher among his peers.

I Loved McMahon, but he had as many bad games as great games. He is overrated because we won the SB with him. Cutler is way underrated. Compare McMahon with the other great QBs of his era like Marino, Montana, Moon, Fouts etc and we quickly see that he wasnt better than Cutty but he did have a HOF Oline and RB which allowed him to throw deep to McKinnon and Gault. Meanwhile Jay was throwing to Hester and playing behind Webb Nation.

(not that MT will ever be confused for Da Coach lol)
Compare Cutty to other great QB's of his era Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers and you will see that Cutler isn't better than McMahon...
Didn't say that. I'm comparing them to all QBs in their respective eras. While Cutler ranks in the lower half of the league, McMahon was in the higher half. Don't see why this is so hard to understand. Do you want a QB in the top 10 or one that barely makes the top 20?What are you saying that McMahon numbers are more FAVORABLE to Marino Moon Elway than Cutlers are? Are you crazy?

wow 44tds in 86?

What Jim never threw over 15 TDs?
Actually he is.
Cutler normally ranks 10-13 in the league
Mchamon was around 20-25 if not worse
So if we had a complete team the Bears could be SB bound with Cutler
*sign of a great QB

Which rating? QB rating? Yards? TD's? Int's?
I loved Jim Mcmahon but he passed for 2392 yards threw 15 TDs and 11 INTs with 56.9% completion percentage.
If we could win with that, we can obviously win a championship with Cutler. Jay Cutler is the best QB the Chicago Bears have ever had, so I fail to see how you can love the team and hate the best QB you have ever seen on the team. Its sick to constantly whine and compare him to Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, get over it and Love your own team.
WRONG...based on championship play and stats Sid Luckman would be " the best QB the Chicago Bears have ever had" By the way....O was never
a Jim Mcmahon-fanboy ...but I respected the fact the he 1) made smart decisions with FB and 2) more times than not, put us in a position to win. Oh yeah,
he was head & shoulders above jay in leadership ability. The players RESPONDED TO Jim Mcmahon.
Cutler is basically a poor mans Brett Favre who will make bone-head plays and interceptions but he plays with passion and the heart of a gunslinger so just enjoy having a talented QB and now we have a #1 WR to match, and the O-Line looks like its much improved too. Whats with the constant manic depressive self loathing of your own team???
Wrong again.....Favre, even though he made bone-head decisions, he lifted the Packers. He also provided leadership.
I know I'm really wasting my time because crazy people dont know they are crazy, and assholism is at an alltime high, but some of you "fans" need to take a valium or something and stop whining about Cutler.
I repeat he is the best QB we have EVER had, and I dare anyone to prove otherwise. If you truly HATE the best QB the team has ever had how could you really be a fan of the team, you are more like a critic of the team. Critics shouldn't be constantly arguing with us lowly fans they should be on ESPN/Fox getting paid to give their "expert" opinions.
BEAR DOWN!
You're the one with the clouded thinking. Marino's career QB rating was 84. I can point to a ton of QBs who came after him and had a much higher rating. Does that mean they're all better than him? No, it was a different damn era and the stats for QBs were way different. The passing game has evolved over the past few decades, rules have changed, today's athletes superior and what not.People like to remember things with tinted glasses but I remember certain things. I can't remember perfectly but there was QB controversy with Flutie, Tomzak, Fuller and McMahon, they were trying to replace McMahon half the time he was on the Bears because he was so undependable.

You ass clown, you're not looking at qualified leaders but anyone who even had 1 attempt. Do the same with Cutler and he's #34 last year.anything you want.
His best year his QB rating was 20th

True, big time. It's just more of a proof of concept, certainly not typical. Besides, there's probably only a few people on here who somehow blames it all on Cutler. Fact remains Cutler has a lot of room to improve, and I hope he does (namely, throwing the ball out of bounds when a play is shot). And as I know you already agree with, no doubt Cutler is not the only reason Bears haven't won the SB while he's been here, and we can win the SB even if Cutler didn't improve from his 2011 talent level.
