The window closed years ago on that fateful night in Philly.

Idk how you can say Doug's value was higher last year when he was getting no playing time and doing nothing with the time he was getting vs now where he has proven himself to at the very least be one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. Yeah he shot like 44% from 3 to start, but he hasn't dropped much from that point.
The acl injury happened here in Chicago.

Sent from the mod station in Nome, Alaska.

first like 10 games he was shooting like 50% from 3....he and snell were leading the league in 3% early on. and the reason his value was higher last season was because he was still an unknown with potential. now, he more than likely is what he is....a good shooter that doesn't do much more on offense and is so terrible defensively other teams just attack him every time down the court until hoiberg is forced to take him out after 3 - 5 min on the court ala aaron brooks

Well certainly no one expected him to shoot 50% for a whole season, but who knows, JJ Redick is still shooting 48% at this point. Either way, it doesn't take any playing time to realize that Doug is not a good defender. He was bad last year too. It's not like people didn't know. Doesn't matter if he was on this team or not, teams would attack him anyway. And if you watch Doug you know he can do more than just shoot, but again this is not a secret to any team either. The Doug we see now is exactly who I thought he would be when we drafted him. Idk if there's any GM out there that would have thought otherwise (except maybe GarPax themselves).

maybe its what GMs expected, I cant confirm or deny that  what I can confirm is there were people on here that sure thought he would be more than what hes been this season. again, I don't dislike doug as a player...theres a role for his type on a team for sure. I was just referencing how last season they should have been in go for it mode and been willing to make a move that would part with doug or someone of his caliber on the roster to do so. losing doug wouldn't be some franchise killer or anything near it. granted we probably still lose to GS, but beating Cleveland would have been quite rewarding for us bulls fans im sure

I guess...I just don't think Doug ever had that much trade value, at least in terms of getting someone who would help us beat Cleveland. Plus it's impractical to think that GarPax would trade Doug anyway seeing as they traded up to get him in the first place.

he would of been part of a package type deal Im sure. and letting the fact you traded up to get him(the past) effect what you are doing in the present for the future is kind of silly IMO. if you are making your roster better you shouldn't be scared to go for it to me. I mean hasn't that been the biggest criticism of the Gar/Pax regime? the lack of moves made to make the roster better? but then you aren't willing to give up anyone of value to make the move? you cant have your cake and eat it too

I meant more in the sense that GarPax wouldn't even do it more so than they shouldn't do it. Certainly if there was a deal on the table involving Doug for a guy I thought could push us past Cleveland I'd do it in a heartbeat. I just have no confidence in GarPax doing that.

The Bulls should have traded Deng and tanked the season after Rose tore his ACL. The Bulls had a top 3 NBA coach, but undermined him all of last season before firing him.

Gar Forman and his handpicked Coach need to be removed at the conclusion of this season.

they did trade Deng and try to tank after Roses 2nd knee injury but top 3 coach manged to limp the the team in the playoffs where they got sodomized by Nene

DPOY Noah + DJ Augustin combo was too good for the regular season tank

bringing in DJ is one of the most head scratching moves ive ever seen

they had the perfect tank duo in Hinrich/Teague

its like they didn't want to tank then was like oh wait lets tank...total incompetence

I don't think management thought dj would elevate the team so much. Even after signing him they were still losing. Just figure they'd fill roses spot with a PG. Thibs worked his magic though and the team played lock down defense.

im guessing they planned all along they were dumping Teauge so they wouldn't have to pay his next year salary of which they already guaranteed by picking up his option....DJ was the replacement for him

the weeks that passed before they traded Teague was them shopping him

I was against giving up two number one picks to get him. Made no sense to me. Eventually I think he will carve out a decent career as a shooter off of the bench which is just fine and if he can be coached up to it, can play passable defense while in the game. But last year they should have gone after two guards or a guard and an SF.

I agree. Do you have a candidate in mind who you see as a guy to replace Hoiberg? I haven't thought much about the GM and Team Presidents job other than I would look at the top assistants at successful organizations.

I want us to fire Gar/Hoiberg and beg Thibs to return.

Yep. Imagine what might have happened if they gave Thibs some players. The coaching job that he did with the assembly of misfits they gave him was truly amazing.

No one thought DJ would end up to be that good but then again, Thibs took more than a couple of such guys and pretty much resurrected their careers. He really doesn't get enough credit for it but he pretty much enabled them to make a lot of money that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

um yes he did/does

its so funny to me watching ppl act like thibs was some underdog that had all the answers but was unappreciated by everyone and was done wrong by the powers that be...its absolutely hilarious

48 minutes in a preseason game...how about that smelling salt? it wake you up? thibs was good but flawed coach hopefully he improved his flaws some and i wish the best for him at his next stop (Minnesota would be awesome)
