That is why I don't really understand the Hinrich hate. If you started Brooks at the SG and had him guard SF and had him play ~30 minutes a game how well would he play? He would probably be complete ass. He would get pushed around. He would be guarded by larger players, many of whom are extremely athletic wings.

I know the Hinrich is great after all-star break talk has happened. He won't heat up if he is guarding SF and being guarded by SGs and playing 30 minutes a game.

I know some people probably look at me as a Hinrich apologist. I just think he is being misused. He has a skill set that can help a team and he is very cost effective. Right now the Bulls are not using him to his strengths. His defense has still been very good even though he is not guarding his position. He is still the best player on the team at running an NBA offense. He is still the best pick and roll/pop passer and the best passer into the post. He is not a score first PG. He is not an efficient scorer.

As a backup PG he is a plus player when playing against other backup PGs. As a starting SG he isa huge negative.

Why the **** is he a starting SG??????
Well I'm glad I'm not the only person who can see that.

They drafted Tony Snell for his shooting, but he can't hit the broad side of a barn with a basketball.

The Bulls will drop him like it's hot in the offseason. Kirk should be gone too, but don't hold your breath with this FO.

Last 10 games:

25 minutes 9 points 44%fg, 1 asst and steal.

I don't think he has played as bad lately as you make it sound.

I wrote a large thing about it, weeks ago. The problem is not only Thibs though. The Bulls did not give him that extra wing player. If the Bulls had brought in another veteran wing in the off season we might be having a completely different conversation right now. The Bulls might be second in the East.

The thing is that Hinrich is DONE as a player and is just an example of how this team does not fit together. He is not able to do what he was pretty good at 6 or 7 years ago. And he wasn't close to being a difference making player back then. This one is on Thibs. He must love the guy and that guy is helping to take him down.
Idk what's going through Thibs' head right now.[/QUOTE]

Watch a game. His perimeter shooting is below average for an NBA SG. He is highly replaceable.

well his point was about shooting which Tony has shown zero signs of yet

he's better slasher than shooter which is weird since everybody raved about his shooting and i don't remember anything about slashing

Yeah it's weird. He was draining 3s in summer league though so it's not like he can't shoot. Idk, maybe his mentality is more successful when slashing right now. It takes a certain combination of confidence and relaxation to be a consistent shooter. Maybe he's not relaxed enough...that wouldn't necessarily detract from slashing.

Take a step back from this team a few minutes if you will. Last season they had a defensive team that was considered top notch in the NBA. Now they have two new starters as n Rose and Gasol. Now the defense is average to below average. This is the biggest negative change made to the Bulls defense by far.

Rose and Gasol playing defense on the same court at the same time is an open invitation for whoever they are playing to pick and roll them to death. Rose always bites and Gasol cannot recover. Then take it another step:

Noah is confused and the guy who confuses him is Gasol. He never knows what Gasol is going to do defensively and reboundingwise. I don;t think that they can play together very well either.

This is why I have been yelling to high heaven that they need to re-do the line-ups and put Rose together with Noah, Gibson, Butler, and Mirotic and put Gasol on the 2nd group where he commands the ball. This will not work as is, especially defensively which should be their bread and butter.

Mirotic is not a 3. Not agile enough. Not on either end.

Gasol is an all-star. He belongs in his natural role as a scorer near the rim and defender near the rim. His rebounding is great. His defense (in his correct role) is very good.

Rose is playing poorly. Turnovers are too high. Assists are too low. His defense is shaky and doesn't force the turnovers as you'd hope he would. Everybody on the team has some shaky, inconsistent defense. One day, the defense looks elite and the next, they are getting torched by Ed Davis. Rose is the one who is really inconsistent on offense. When the three-point shot is on, he looks like MVP Rose. When the three-point shot is off (most of the time), he struggles and the offense struggles.

Rose is the problem/"issue" this season. Not Thibs or Pau (laughable). Rose's bread and butter was attacking in 2010-2012. That is what opened up his three-point shot. That is how he averaged about 8 assists with only 3+ turnovers. Now, in 2015, it is the other way around; he settles for contested three's. When they drop, the defense closes in and he goes right by and gets the easy shot or assist to wide open teammate. That isn't a common occurrence.

Not saying he needs to be reckless and crash and burn every possession. That's when the minor injuries will start to mount and make it more likely that another major injury occurs. But he needs to attack the rim aggressively at times. Rose is still good enough to help the Bulls be better than they were last year (going from 27th to 9th out of 30 in offense. But not good enough.

Rose definitely needs to be more aggressive. I ain't saying be more selfish and shoot all the time, but his drives need to be those drives that force the defense to react.

You can't pin all the problems on Gasol. He was brought here to provide offense, and he's done that. He's never been any good at defense, so some people who weren't aware of this (despite numerous warnings from myself and a few others) need to rethink their expectations on Gasol. Noah is the biggest problem with this team because he was at one time our best defender. He's been a below average player overall this year, and the team has regressed as a result. Thibs should have cut Noah's minutes and replaced him with Taj in the starting line up by now, but I digress.

It's Noah, man. Rose is the subordinate problem with this team. He's turned into an arrogant prick with the contract and should be run out of town if he doesn't get his attitude under control. Bulls fans won't do that of course, because they are exceedingly loyal to popular players, even when they're hurting the team.

32% from 3 for his career and 31% for this season. 42% for his career in the midrange.

That is not good, but it basically what Butler is doing this season. Snell has not received regular minutes and has not shot as poorly as people think he has. When Snell was getting regular minutes he was shooting the much better. If you are watching the games you would know that over that 7 game stretch he actually shot the ball on par with Butler over the same period.

the problem is what he is saying is factually wrong. Snell is not a bad shooter. He has been worse this season than last, but he has played 500 minutes this season in 40 games where he played 1200 minutes last year in 77 games. He was getting more minutes last year and playing/shooting better. When he was get more minutes more regularly this season he was playing shooting better.

Snell has better career jump shooting numbers than Butler and Butler has been in the league 2 years longer.

Legitimately a mind boggling decision considering the matchup. I mean, Snell has great length which can be used to cover Ariza, whose only advantage over Hinrich was the fact that he's like half a foot taller. Then you can use Hinrich to help the bench unit chill out a bit because they played like general trash against Houston.

I know the fun fact of the day is that Hinrich is like the 8th worst player in the NBA or something, but I guarantee if you bring him off the bench instead of starting him, he'll vault up those rankings. He's being overmatched starting at SG right now.

Idk what's going through Thibs' head right now.

That's my main point against Thib's. He doesn't know how to matchup against other teams. I don't care if you have all the "effort" in the world, if it's a poor matchup, you're coming out on the losing side of things.

This is Thib's main problem! Pau posting up Nene, Noah handling the ball at the 3 pt line and shooting from the outside, Rose supposed to penetrate a stacked paint, Kirk starting at SG, etc.

The bottom line is that Thib's is doing this shit on purpose cuz he's po'd at GarPax, or maybe he just doesn't know what he's doing. An assistant coach specializes in one thing such as defense, and talks about effort and discipline.

A head coach strategies, motivates the team, and puts his players in the best situation to help them be successful. I think Thib's might be proving that he's a great assistant coach, and not qualified to be a head coach.

Except this is the exception, not the rule. Thibs has so much more with so much less. Motivation? How did he get this team to even wake up for games while Rose was out, let alone make the playoffs as a top 4 seed? With the talent we had, we had no business doing that.

It's the same with McD. If your coach isn't putting you in the right positions, playing you enough minutes to develop, it will hurt your confidence. Snall has showed he can shoot, he did it in College, but Thib's is destroying his confidence.

This is most likely why McD struggled early as well. Look at McD's shot in College. Now, he must be questioning his ability and having no confidence, cuz his fuckin coach won't give him ANY minutes!

You're wrong on many counts. Pau does not need to protect the rim on defense, this is his weakness. Noah needs to protect the rim on defense, this is his strength. Pau needs to post up when the matchup is good on offense, otherwise play the stretch 4 role, which he was brought in for.

Noah needs to be down low on offense, not at the 3 pt line handling the ball like a G. He should be crashing the boards at all times. Rose is not the problem. He should not be expected to drive a lane that teams are stacking and cheating off him defensively.

If Rose actually had players that could hit the 3 when he plays, he might be able to dish to them. Every time Rose tries to be an assist guy, he watches the players that are playing with him throw up bricks. This is why he resorts to throwing up bad 3's, cuz he has no confidence in the guys to actually hit the 3.

These are all coaching issues.

Rose is the "main problem"?? The guy who hasn't played in two years, whom every fan in the world should fully have expected inconsistency from this year?? It's not, maybe the DPOY looking like a shell of his former self, thus severely weakening what was once an elite D? Perhaps it's that since game 1 of the season the starting 5 have missed a combined 46 games? All of the problems and issues with the team are not on one person. They are cumulative. Each member of the team is struggling in some area & that includes Thibs as well. They all have stuff that needs improving.

And Rose IS ATTACKING. It's been apparent since the GS game. At times now, he is attacking too much, going full speed into traffic and making bad decisions with the ball. Those threes are not all contested. The majority of them are open shots but they just happen to be dumb shots to take. Either he doesn't have his legs under him or it's way too early in the shot clock. He needs to find the mid-range again. I know how everyone hates that word :kermit: but THAT is a big reason why he won MVP in 2011. He needs to start incorporating that back into his play. He's not a 3-pt shooter and he needs to stop trying to be one.
