Where the rain...

2 games into the 2nd half and well, the SP not looking too hot..
Their the top end of the rotation

Tomorrow we get to see the bottom end in a DH after using up the pen for 2 days..

Has the makings of a horrid weekend on the northside ..

Then they get 4 games with the 1st place team in the west..lol

I don’t think I hat they should win every game but they need to win the games that they should.

Man, this team and the first inning runs. Wonder what the ERA is. It seems like like every game they start by giving up runs, no matter who is starting.

Cubs really need to look into DFA for Duensing. Not sure how he did what he did last year, probably a long line of good fortune but that most certainly has run it's course. I mean if you can't even fill a few innings in blow out loss forcing the embarrassment of throwing a utility man out there...what good are you to the team? He's 35 and the end can come quickly in this sport. It has arrived for Brian.

Lester has a game like this every mid-season where he goes 2-3 innings, gives up 10, and then he's back to normal after that. In 2016 it was the Mets. Can't remember who it was last year, but it happened. Much ado about nothing.

Holland is in for Cards, so we still have a decent chance to win this. :)

I know he got better games coming this year..
Thing is, he 34 and we should expect a decline in the 2nd half from him as he pitched way above expectation in the first half, and he going to wear down some as the games innings and pitches add up..

Lester was supposed to be the no.3 in the rotation this year and right now he their Ace..

He wears down and the others dont pick it up or they dont get that boost from Darvish, come mid August into September, the rotation may be what kicks this team in the ass at the end.

Right now outside of Lester, who do we have confidence in to get the job done in the playoffs, especially facing off against the other team no.2 and no.3 ?
Hendricks and Quintana?
Neither has shown the ability to consistently give them quality starts..

Not sure where you heard #3. Yu has never been a ace and neither has Q. Both have played 2nd fiddle. Jon is a legit #1 starter. Now Ace? That varies on definition.

Pitched exactly like this in 2016. Shelled in one game around ASG. Finished 3rd in cy young voting and co-mvp of NLCS.

Come in from the ledge.

This whole silly, hand-wringing post forgets the fact that none of this matters. None of the current performances matter, not by Lester or Hendricks or Quintana, not by any players on any teams, other than to get those teams to the playoffs. And then the team that gets hot will win. All else is just the white noise that silly fans get wrapped up in during the season.

Lol..
Just because something happened 2 seasons ago doesn't mean it gonna play out the same way..

I already said i expect him to bounce back and pitch well again , i just dont expect him to pitch as well as he did in the first half..

Why i keep saying they need the others to step up, because i expect him to drop off a bit.

You wanna bring up 2016 and say how he bounced back in Aug and Sept after a rough July..
Why are you overlooking 2017 and note that he didn't bounce back in the 2nd half?

We dont know how he gonna respond but being that he 34 now , i think it safe to say he gonna fall off a bit from his hot first half in the 2nd half..

Lester Quintana and Hendricks are their top 3 SP right now and this team only going as far as they take them..

Their still in a fight for a playoff spot..
Not only do they have to keep the brewers off their backs..
They have the Braves Phillies Dodgers Dbacks Rockies on their tail for WC spots.
Nationals team who if when they get healthy could make a push ..

So, yea all it matters is getting to the playoff and then just need guys to get hot, problem is, if these guys dont perform in the 2nd half, they might not make the playoffs ..

Lester Quintana and Hendricks are solid starters when their on their game, just need to see more of it consistently in the 2nd half to stay on top of the division..

Im just taking a slow roll with this team til i see the SP actually get on a consistent roll..

Aww, let him do it. Used to annoy me too but now I find it amusing that anyone can get so wrapped up in a baseball team. He watches close to 162 friggin games and comes on here posting something every single day...he throws so much shit against the wall that he can't keep track of it all which leads to many redundant, glass half empty posts. The guy can't possibly have any kind of life outside of Cubs baseball, which in itself is pretty funny.

We saw the cubs with an outburst on Thursday, on what should have been an off day, by going almost exclusively to opposite field hitting. Then they get Flannery and go back to pulling everything and get thoroughly embarassed. Nobody gets upset, nobody beats up a gatorade cooler, they laugh it off and forget about it.
