How much do players respect Ross? New Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward is paying for Ross to have a hotel suite on the road the entire season. The two were lockermates in Atlanta when Heyward made his Major League debut in 2010, and Ross had quite an impact.

One of the things I noticed last night was how focused this team was on the task at hand. They really looked sharp which isn't always the case on opening day but I think part of it is how they approached ST. Guys worked on what they needed to as individuals and then the team started working together in short stints in games over the last week to ten days. We saw some of this last year but now the young guys are a little more seasoned and you've got guys like Heyward and Zobrist that are mentally strong players added to the mix. I'm not going to get to crazy over one game but this is going to be fun to watch.
