They would look stupid because Elvis Andrus does it to Adrian Beltre all the time. lol

I think it's hilarious how Andrus fucks around with Beltre - all in fun.

Russell has struck out 65 times and walked 12 times since becoming a Cubs in AA, AAA, and MLB. 23 Strikeouts to 2 walks in 51 PA.

Soler is walking at a 8% clip and striking out at a 35% clip.

I dont think their approach is much different just perception.

MLB: Baez 95 SO in 213 AB
Soler: 63 in 187 AB's.

Really?

Minors: Soler: 544 career AB's. Baez 1243. So again really?

Way to hold that runner on. He was leaning big time before the pitch.

Alcantara homerism warning:

I think in an ideal world he gets on track and you could talk about calling him up and giving him a shot at a sort of LF platoon. He's kind of the ideal guy for a short bench given what he offers in terms of position and situational flexibility.
Its more the number game then flexibility. ..

Close or tie game late, he using a catcher to PH, then if he gets on a pinch runner.. double switch could be used..

He can go through 4 guys in a hurry..

Borjous doing that is exactly why the Cards are always so good. Not sure you can do much to stop that but definitely a heads up play by him

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
What is with Lesters Chuck Knoblauch complex. I mean it would have been a tough play but he gave no effort after he knocked down the ball.
He got paid. They even signed his catching buddy to give him even more sense of entitlement. Why would he fix anything?

What does "puffed up" mean?

A guy who has a better year offensively on a team with shitty pitching should have the ability to be rewarded for his individual play with an individual honor.

You know what the award os for being on a winning team: The playoff berth!!

Exactly what it means. When Ichiro was in Seattle he was considered a me type. He did little to win games for years. It was all about getting to 3000 hits and slapping that single.

You look at a player like Pedroia. Ya little guy that played with his heart on his sleeve and won it. He did not put up 50 HR's or any crap like that but his teams won.

Isn't that what this game is about in the end? We tend to lose track of it withall of the stats in the way

Good as Rizzo has been he might be heating up(insert NBA jam soundbyte here). First 13 games of the season he hit .302/.475/.395 with a double and a homer to go along with 5 RBIs. Past 12(not counting tonight), .364/.472/.705 with 4 doubles, a triple, 3 homers 7 RBIs. Tonight was 2-4 with a Homer and 3 RBIs.

What? Its still over a 35% K rate. Its far from where he needs to be. I dont know what you are reallying besides perception. Baez may never turn it around. Doesnt mean Soler is a lock. Soler is doing exactly what he did AA when people fell out of favor on him. He straightened the path and got in bad habits. They both have long swings and havent been able to lay off the breaking ball. These are legitimate concerns. Its perception.

Montero has hit .407 over the last 10 games. That is a reason why I disliked him sitting on the bench vs a RHSP. Dude has been on fire.
