Jackson and Bryant have to find a way to make contact there. Now they've let Lester not sit the entire half inning and got one run for it.

Question? If Baez and Castro keep hitting, does Russell jump in the platoon because they have been outperforming him by a mile with the bat? Its something the Cubs will have to consider if he continues to struggle. This isn't middle of the season. This is playoff push.

Yea, He has had around a 35% K rate for the past 129 at bats and this past month he is striking out at a 50% clip in about 40 at bats.

Safety squeeze. Ball gets down you run. Lester has to get it to the right or left of the pitcher.

I wouldn't doubt that. Lester is a one trick pony. He can only pitch. He can do nothing else on a baseball field. I thought Garza was bad, but he takes the cake. He is just a better pitcher then Garza. lol

Doubt it. He's been great defensively. He's been basically a 12ish UZR/150 player all year at ss/2b. Keep in mind that Theo(and maybe jed was there too don't recall) traded Nomar who was an elite hitter for Cabrera to improve defense at SS.

Well believe what you will but Russell has basically been this sort of hitter all year and they benched Castro to move him to SS. I just think they value his defense as much as his bat. I'm not going to get dragged into a Baez debate here because clearly you're opinion on him is vastly different to mine. But suffice to say if they were worried that much about Russell's hitting they would have called Baez up pre-injury or sooner once he returned from it.

KB may have found himself a home in RF and Baez at 3B. They have kicked ass defensively today!
