I've been a fan a long time and I can't think of a team that had as many interchangeable parts as this team. It's almost like having a team of utility players that are potential all-stars. The depth that provides them is astounding. That's why I wouldn't want to see them trade any of these kids...of course, if someone blew them away with an offer that might change but it would have to be one hell of an offer. Buy and draft what you need. I think we'll see them start going after more pitching in the draft and sometimes these kids get here in a hurry.

I agree on the interchangeable parts. People about all the shortstops but I don't hear that much now. Most shortstops are great athletes than can play anywhere so if you're going to stockpile it's a great position to do it in. While you have to love the flexibility in where to play these guys, you also have to realize the flexibility in acquiring players. Often times teams will have an OF they're willing to trade for another position of need but it might limit them to a couple of teams to deal with. This team won't be hindered that way. They'll have multiple options. Minor league kids for rebuilding teams, a major league player for other contending teams and the pick of whatever it is they're lookign for, likely pitching. You really do have to love this side of the rebuild.

Interesting, Castro has batted .354 with six doubles and two homers in 65 at-bats since not playing full time. We will see if this is a trend or if the law of averages is evening out.

Martinez with nearly a 5.00 ERA since the beginning of august.

Cardinals don't hit lefties well.

Cubs 5.5 back after today.

Reds have some dude with a 6.68 ERA pitching against the pirates today.

Need to win!

I'm not sure with Ross in there why you would replace Castro with LaStella today.

Eh, that is going to be a hard one. I want to say like 90% of their games left are against the Reds, Braves, and Brewers.

It's going to be tough to run them down but the cubs still have another 4 games vs them. If the cubs win those 4 games they are 2.5 back with the cards having 20 to play and the cubs having 21 to play. So, if they do that they got a decent chance.

Yeah and not being a big fan of LaStella, it's really burning my butt. Maddon knows a hell of a lot more than any of us...so we roll with it.

One thing to put him in the lineup, not happy about batting 5th.

That was a weird play all around. 2-0 Cubs. LaStella muscled that one up.

I think the Cubs got into the Cards heads. Molina starting a day game after a night game and playing a CFer who can't throw just to get his bat in the lineup.
