That Russell drop sucked, cuz he would have been out.

Russell has to catch that ball. There should be 1 out.

It was a timing thing, you can't help that. The ball short hopped Addi right as Big City slid into him. Sometimes it just doesn't work.

The ball should have been caught. He turned his head before he caught it.

I disagree, I think the runner slid into the shorthop, but no harm, no foul. I also don't blame Addi for being aware of a 260 lb guy coming at him, especially with the Cards affinity to go for the knees.

Also, JHey's throw was off a little bit, if it was online with 2nd base, the tag would have been much easier. JHey should also have 1 hopped the ball to Addi, not short hopped it, imo.

So the Cardinals had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and didn't score. The times they are a changing.

This guy must be hard to pick up. I'll bet out of the 100 or so pitches he's thrown that there were no more than 30 actual strikes. The Cubs are getting themselves out.

He missed the ball. The runner wasn't there when the ball hit his glove. It should have been scored a single with an error.

I have to admit that the Cubs are so good at being patient at the plate, I wonder if that wears thin on the patience of the umps? Anyone have the game time stats of this?

I still disagree. The ball was offline into the runner's path, it was short hopped into Addi, and he had a 260 lb guy sliding into him. I think some of you are underestimating how hard that play was. But anyway, not to go on about it. Besides, why would we choose to give Addi shit about his defense, right?

Moving on....

I'd give him shit, because it was a good enough throw to get a runner out. I ribbed the shit out of my IF when they did that to me. What I've observed is that Baez gives a better tag than Russell. Of course even Superman had his kryptonite.

Baez does tag well. I'm not surprised you were making the throw and not the tag, however. As far as the throw, why was Addi 3 feet to the right of the bag, right in the base runners path?

Furthermore, shouldn't an OF's throw 1 hop to the IF's chest?
