I did a shot and made a prayer for Kyle tonight that the MRI comes through clean. Great to hear it's only the ankle, but concerned with the MRI.

My current guess at over/under for Schwarber being out is 3 months. When I saw it happen I was thinking ACL or broken leg and I was thinking he could be out for the season. Then I hear ankle sprain but MRI, and I was thinking a month or so. Now they're concerned about the knee too, and... I guess 3 months.

Would love to be proven wrong and he's only out a couple weeks, but... Listening to him talk after the game, while he said all the right things and I love him for his attitude, he just sounded like a guy who know he was going to be out for some time.

And before anyone jumps on me, I know he could be out anywhere from a week to the rest of the year and nobody knows including him right now. Just speculating.

EDIT: But Jesus Christ - 29 runs in 3 games and the Cards are 0-3...

We're like the '27 Yankees.

Gonna be known as the '16 Cubs. Need a cool nickname, though.
What if they just made the baseball version of the Super Bowl Shuffle?[emoji38]

especially when the depth is there to not rush it at all. Hopefully it's not long but we'll see

Yes, we are facing a leftie. The original lineup called for Schwarber to catch as well. Looks like we will see Ross against the lefty.

Cubs magic number to eliminate Cardinals is 157 ?

Soler is going to get an opportunity now to step up and show he an everyday player..

I expect someone to be brought up tonight or tomorrow, probably Baez if he ready.

Baez may not be back until Weds. He was hit in the head by a pitch in a simulation game. He could be back Monday, but they said they could give him an extra two days if he needs considering the Cubs are off Tuesday.

He's probably got a high ankle sprain, which is very painful, and will keep him out for a while. Like I said, I hope it's just a mild sprain of the knee at worst, just no tears, or he might need surgery. My guess is something like 4-8 weeks.

We were going to have to make room for Baez's return anyhow, so the roster has a funny way of working itself out sometimes.

This is what I was afraid of....it's what usually happens after a season that is light on injuries. Things tend to even out. It's why I was very happy that they kept both Soler and Baez, hell....I would've kept Castro as well. Time to find out if this team's depth is the real deal.

Remember, Zobrist can play OF as well. Once Baez comes back, they will have a ton of options. Lets hope Schwarber doesn't have anything severe.

He said there is fear in the organization that it is something serious with the knee.

Let's be real, Schwarber is an accident waiting to happen in LF. This wont be the only time this happens with him.

If there was one place to get an injury a LF is the best. Szczur has started off hot. Soler is obviously a quality talent. Bryant played LF last night. As mentioned in theory Zobrist can play there. In some ways it helps a guy like Soler get the playing time he probably needs. So, I'm glad it's that vs say Russell getting hurt. With Baez out they are particularly thin on the infield.
