Descalso went skipping like a little girl to first base after he took that walk. Must have felt like the first time he came thru as a pinch hitter in 2 months.
Imagine walking Daniel Descalso in that situation and still winning the game.

Guess that is why they were holding Chatwood back. Well Cole really had no command in his AAA start so this might take a little while to get him back.

I'm guessing that Bote falls to back up SS now.

Just an illness for Lester, no arm issues. Ballsy move sending Russell to Iowa, I guess Theo figured nobody was going to bite on a trade.

I thought they might just leave Willson on the IR with no lester start.

It makes you wonder what they are thinking right now.

Sending Russell down stops his service clock. So I could see that as a trade deadline thing.

Contreras catching again. So will they carry 3 or with they trade one? For a team that has some holes going on it makes little sense to run 3 catchers.

Chatwood starting right before the break. Most likely not a suggestion of much. But with Mills and Alzolay as capable 2-4 inning arms it feels like they could try to flip bad contracts.

I'm not really sure if he has to be honest.

To tell you the truth. Garca is the starting 2B now. Let's just leave it at that. I think that he has deserved that much respect now

If I recall, half of Garcia's starts in the minors were at SS, so its not a new position for him as a potential back-up when Javey needs a day....Its not idea, but not also like he has never played the position before either...

1 game at Tenn only. He was 2B/3B. At the end when he got on the radar they tested him at LF/RF

Gloom clown strikes again.View attachment 2268
Well we will see but the bullpen was used a lot last night and Chatwood isn’t going more than 6 and im
Guessing he only goes 4 innings today so that doesn’t bode well and does anyone right now have any faith in this cubs team on the road? They have the worst road record in the National League! Worse than the Marlins

He has only pitched on the 14th. Before was his spot starts.

I wouldn't go out calling him out. He is still a major league quality starting pitcher. The contender part is in doubt. But 5-6 innings is really not going to be a issue.

I take this as it is Chatwood's bullet to bite.

I would have used Lester instead of Hendricks. Better bat which can not be disputed. Flame me all you wantMaddon had Almora batting 5
Let's say you use Lester. Are you expecting an XBH? Let's say no. So he surprises and gets on first. You need three more hits to get him in. Are you truly thinking the odds of scoring there were significantly different batting Lester vs Hendricks. THAT is the issue.

It was a matter of Hendricks vs Kimbrel. Simply because Kimbrel never bats.

People here are arguing it as though we had the bases loaded and there is a significant difference in the two choices.

Care to share the stats on pitchers being hurt batting in the 11th inning? Include Strop. It is all good

Can’t figure out why you guys want to shed blood for Maddons and his decisions
Nobody wants to shed blood. What we apparently want to do is try to convince a few people who are completely ignorant and pigheaded, which is a waste of time.

You don't consider ANYTHING anyone says. You simply dig in with the ridiculous argument that a guy who has been hurt running the bases and who was scheduled to pitch a day game the next day should be available in extra innings to run the bases. (And if you want him to bat, and think it matters, it means you expect him to run the bases and score. Otherwise there's no discussion.)

I guess that HR recently means we should expect one every time up now.
