Another concerning sign is Kimbrel facing the 7-8-9-1-2 throws 18 pitches and gets I believe one swing and miss.
I was nervous with the signing. Im hoping its just a lay off. Im really hoping.

Dongbears is thee worst!
My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Maryland Terrapins
I think the thing that befuddles me the most is how much of the team from 2015 and 2016 has regressed to now. Like how is it possible that many guys have simply gotten way worse as they are entering their physical prime?

I would argue that Heyward and Baez are better. Rizzo is slightly better. Schwarber,Russell and Bryant are shells of their former selfs.
This team needs some rest.

Kimbrel did his job. He got three balls that were outs.
No, he didnt. He walked a batter he had down to two strikes. You dont walk batters with a one run lead. He also had no swing and miss stuff. His fastball was sitting 94

I think what makes the Joe decision to not move Heyward in is that with Conteras making the last out of the inning, you're just sitting there to double switch Heyward into the game in RF.

I can't wait to hear Maddon's excuses. Like maybe the music wasn't just right or the art on the wall in the dressing room was the back breaker.

This loss is all on Maddon. Getting fucking cute with his lineup. Let's play a catcher in the OF.....lets play an OF in the IF. Look at me!!!!!!!! I am some smart fucking guru.

Guru needs to go.

Kris Bryant isn't a shell of himself but many of the Cubs are.

Facing who he faced, I'd prefer my highly paid closer to have way more swing and miss and not walk non-power hitters he has two strikes on after four pitches.

They cant get out of their way. Good news. Whole division is like that. They need the all star break so bad. How in the actual **** does that happen. Walk. Bloop Double where Heyward should have been in right. Russell with woman beating on his mind. Ball game. Un fucking believable
And that is why making contact is always good, put the ball in play and anything can happen especially with runners in scoring position, pirates didn’t strikeout at all in the 9th and if Kimbrel was
Pitching against us there he probably strikes out the side for an easy save

Jesse Rogers reported that Heyward is hurt or hurting right now. It seems to be the reason Joe stayed away.

Just start the fire sale already. Move anybody & everybody except Baez. This organization isn't competing for a world series anytime soon with the current flawed roster construction. The Dodgers & Braves are light years ahead. It was a good run though.

After the layoff he had, this being Game2, he walked one man, and three of the first four hit balls that are all outs if Contreras makes that play as he should have.

No double defense hurt him. He should have made the play, but its literally how our luck is right now. He did everything right but squeeze it.

I thought at the price and the lack of true commitment to the fourth year were positive moves but I don't see him aging gracefully ala Wade Davis for a few years when he lost that true swing and miss stuff. He's now faced 18 batters, only 3 K. If he's not a high K guy, does he have enough talent to get hitters out when they make contact?

I still cant believe Russell is playing deep. Double pumps and tries to throw home. His fucking arm sucks.

If you think Bryant is a shell of his former self, you are clueless.

He's been throwing for what now, three or four weeks between here and Iowa? After all that time and energy spent staying ready to go?

The thing about closers and relievers is the line between great and terrible is so thin for them. I really think he needs a new pitch; his two pitch routine doesn't work at 94-95.

I dont care what anyone says this team is still the best in the division. They have all the talent. They need the all star break and they need to regroup. They have played like absolute shit and still a game out.

Ok. I get that people are upset.
But are we seriously blaming Kimbrel for that inning?
What game were you watching?

You said a lot of different numbers. 85 was the highest.

Yes they will win more than 85.
Lol..wrong
It always been 85

I hope you're right but I doubt it unless a big miracle happens and they make some crazy trades and the ones that suck dont suck anymore..

Theyve had Kimbrel for a week, he got 1 save, pitched in a blowout game, and tonight lol it ended up disastrous..
So, he not the bullpen savior so far, making all things right again..
They still need to figure out how to get the game to him both offensively and pitching wise..
