What worries me about that is he was hitting 95-96 last year and he was down on velocity. Tonight, he pumped straight 94 and was yanking fastballs.

Hey...here is an idea for you. Play outfielders in the outfield and play infielders on the infield. Stop pretending since Contreras played outfield in 2nd grade he is good to go in the major leagues. No other outfielders sitting on the bench to cover right field in the ninth inning of a one run game? Maddon thinks he is so fucking smart. Unfortunately it is far from the truth. Can't wait for his presser blaming anyone and everything except himself. Or maybe the art on the wall.

Blame him? No, that's not how this works. I'm saying I wasn't impressed and that wasn't some case of super tough luck. He walked a guy he shouldn't and gave up the winning hit fairly cleanly. He didn't generate swings and misses. What do you want me to say about the high priced closer - he got bad luck when they made contact? He's paid and asked to limit contact, that's the whole point here.

I dont disagree with that. I dont think they need bats. They need a bat that elongates their lineup. It also doesnt help that Rizzo has hit like shit for over a month. BP they need a LOOGY. But, if Kimbrel isnt Kimbrel then we have problems

Is the reason they're not sending Russell down/DFA the issue that if they release him for poor performance and didn't release him for being a terrible human being that they value winning more than people? We already knew that when they brought Chapman in AND when they kept Russell anyway.
Russell nor Schwarber has looked any better for any consistent amount of time since 2016 yet here we sit in 2019.

Silence what happened on the Contreras play? I had to watch the 8th and 9th on my phone on mlb.com’s game cast riding home from being gone all day and it just said Jung doubled to Contreras in right but keep seeing people say it should have been caught and he didn’t squeeze it

I really hope Zobrist comes back. I know he wasnt good when he played, but that could of been the whole divorce thing. We miss his calmness and professional at bats.

He was playing no double, so he was far into the group. He had to make a full sprint for the ball and just kind of whiffed on it. It was a really hard play, but one he would say he should make. He didnt get glove.

99% Schwarber gets no where near that ball and he is just on our team. Contreras can run which is what made it close.
