Losing this game sucks... Pirates will probably sweep Rockies and be 3 1/2 games up on Cubs for weekend series. .

...which means the Cubs will still play the Pirates in a play-in game on Oct 7th with Arrieta on the mound. So essentially nothing of importance has changed, or will change between now and then.

We will be playing the wildcard game in Pittsburgh. However I think we still beat them.

how many HR has Bryant hit on the road? And how many at home? Wrigley it's a factor

Home field for that 1 game is more important then you think..

And the Pirates have three against us, followed by three with the Cardinals.

There is no easy road for either team for that one game, though obviously, they have a huge edge right now.

But in the end, you have to beat the best, and being a Wildcard team, they are going to have to do it on the road anyways.

How so? In the small sample size of the WC, as well as statistically vs any one game in baseball in general, the game is essentially a coin flip. Also the Cubs have a good road record, not quite as good as the home record but good. There has been a lot of media chatter that they'd be better off with the game on the road because they wouldn't have the pressure of what would surely be a madhouse at Wrigley. I don't agree with that but some do. I like our chances against Cole in either park. They'll get an early chance to test their mettle against him on Friday. I'm not happy about losing a game last night or to the Brewers, it just shows how hard it is for standings to change late. In the last 10 games the Cubs have gone 7-3, the Pirates 6-4 and the Cards 8-2, and oh by the way those two losses were at the hands of the Cubs. I'm not happy they lost last night but it's unrealistic to expect them to win every night. That's baseball, even to a crap ass team. Relax, nothing has changed nor was it ever really likely to.
