Who wins the MVP if the Cubs sweep? What MVP candidate do the Cubs have outside of Arrieta who comes close to Harper?

I'm guessing Rizzo...at least the national media makes note of it. He's had a good year but not MVP worthy IMOP.

Blackhawks on tonight...Cubbies got some competition. I was bouncing back n forth between the games.
You can't be serious. The Cubs are playing games that mean something, as in a post season berth. The Hawks were playing a meaningless pre-season game and using lots guys who will skating in Rockford. Do you also bet on NFL exhibition games?l

Before I went on my crusade for Arrieta as MVP, I looked at the team hard. I don't see a single candidate outside of Jake. That said, I also see some guys that have come thru time and time again with key moments that projected straight to wins. Montero comes to mind as one of the most clutch performances I've seen in recent times. Same goes with Kyle for about a month there as well as Kris for about a month and of course Rizzo being pretty consistent. Heck even Cogs has won a few games for the team this year.

So while you don't have a Bryce Harper/Albert Pujols you got a team that has put things together in a very timely fashion. I am very impressed on what the Cubs have done. Jealous too.

Ok. So if the Cubs sweep the awards how is Arrieta going to win both the MVP and the CY? Lester isn't winning the CY.;)

I would have no real issue if Jake won both MVP and Cy Young. I mean Jake might finish third but the true difference between the three is probably as close as I have ever seen

Ok. I am pointing out that you said the Cubs could sweep the awards. That's the only way possible. Rizzo isn't winning over Harper for MVP.

Gotcha. I missed that. Right, the only way they sweep is with Jake taking both. Unlikely, but possible

Growing up I played baseball, football, basketball and hockey. Mediocre pitcher, brutal TE, God awful in every facet of basketball....then there was hockey. Played for 15 years including 2 years of college hockey...only sport I was any good at, so it'll always be #1 for me.

Besides...what the **** do you care what I watch?

I get what your saying here. I am the opposite. While baseball was and is my #1, I watch playoff Bulls games over regular season Cubs games.

For all the talk about Rizzo being an MVP candidate this year, Bryant is tied with Cain for #9-10 in WAR. Rizzo is #13 with 5.2. Can you imagine what Bryant might do next year? He could be up in Top 3-5 territory and an MVP candidate in his own right.

I think it all depends on how deep the voters dig. If they dig, It's Kershaw. If they semi dig, It's Grienke. If they go with second half stats then I think it's Jake by a close vote. Extremely exciting.

I think there's a chance albeit small that the Cubs sweep the awards (MVP, ROY, CY, Manager). Not sure that has been done before.
I think greinke and Kershaw will split alot of votes on west coast and Arrieta will get majority of votes in middwest and east coast..

Greinke and Kershaw being on same team probably hurts them. .

The run scored by Brewers looks a little larger now.

Does anyone else think Montero screwed up by setting up too deep? Throw was there, but he was too far back to tag the runner before the runner hit the plate.

I literally just turned on the Cubs game after work and the Brewers hit a double and a single. Clearly, they are better off without me. Later, boys
