While it's likely Starlin gets traded this off-season, I really want to see him get his 1,000th hit wearing a Cubs uniform.

I don't know...why? Why trade away this incredible depth? Buy your pitchers. I just love the way Maddon gets everyone involved. I'll bet right now, the Pirates wish they had this kind of infield depth.

I won't even be mad if he doesn't get traded, myself. The Cubs have a bunch of players that can start that don't. Maddon is brilliant, imo, at using them all. If Castro keeps hitting like he is, he will get a of of playing time, whether he starts or not. Having said that, for me, Russell is a lock at starting SS with that glove of his. He's unreal in the field, and when he starts hitting again, watch out.

Should have benched Castro sooner

Since coming back, he's been at his best

Yeah I agree, you have to give it up to Maddon for benching him, but you gotta give credit to Castro as well, for being professional, and coming back the way he has. He's even made some stellar defensive plays as well. Perfect timing for a late playoff run!

Castro with the curtain call! Fucking good for him. Baez smokes a single. This team is fun!

That is good. He saved us today. Very good game. Matched his debut. Very good day, indeed.

Ok, Joe. You a scoreless inning out of Strop vs the Cardinals....get him out of there. Strop and the Cardinals are not a good matchup.

Yeah I have gained a lot more respect for Castro. Can't really continue with the "He doesn't care" narrative anymore. He has proven he will do what it takes to get better. Still a fairly small sample size, but the approach has been significantly better. It's fun having an organization that can correct talent. Baez is the same way

The Castro-Soler argument is getting really interesting

Are the young Cubs getting to the Cards? Looking frustrated out there.

I think so, and it's really fun to watch! The Cubs aren't just beating these elite teams, they're beating up on them. It's a beautiful thing to see take place!

Not even an argument until Soler is out there making an argument in his favor.

I don't care what anyone says, Russell and Baez make a fantastic double play combination. They are our best middle infielders, period. Having these gloves in the middle infield is huge for the Cubs.

And this is no shot at Castro at all. It does become an embarrassing wealth of riches for the Cubs. And we still have top SS prospects coming up yet. Unbelievable!
