Offensively. Defensively, they're not in the same hemisphere. Soriano was a bad infielder who was moved to the OF....he was a bit better out there. Baez excels wherever they have put him on defense.

Sori actually became very good in LF after he was properly taught how to run routes. He was getting by with raw talent up until then. Who knows what would have happened if he was schooled right from the start with a arm that nailed anyone.

That said Baez is so good it hurts the eyes to follow him at time out there.

There's a lot more talent in it than people realize. Obviously you know how I feel about lots of guys given you read the stuff I write there but their pitching is so deep right now. The number of starters they have in the minors who are 4:1 or 5:1 k:bb ratio is rather staggering. Hitting is fairly weak at A+ and above but there are some really fun players to watch at A and below.

The way I handle tough losses is the cubs always play 7-8 games a day. Chances are one of the teams will give you something to smile about.

You know how it is. Fans drool over top 100 and star posting who they would want for them vs any kinda self developed talent. They waited for 5 years for a farm to hatch. I doubt they are really looking at it right now. That is White Sox dreams right now.

That said: the system is not bad but...honestly not even worth it. It pales to what it was because they are not tanking to build. That is the reality.

I laugh at the Soriano comparisons. I was not a Soriano hater and he was a solid to good pro. Baez has had to change positions every year and learn how to hit major league pitching. He is 25 with a 2.1 fWAR not even half way through the season. The manny comparison is the natural ability to hit the ball. Without Baez, this team is a lot worse off. Russell was the next MVP. Baez has out performed him. No one talks about that.

Maddon goes with matchups. He has alreays played strong defenders up the middle when Hendricks starts.

Happ is most versatile player on the Cubs

He can play several positions with equal difficulty?

Watch one of our infielders get.a throwing error tonight while someone proclaims Happ to be good since he won’t get one.
