Cubs bat .343/.411/.485 with 21 SF in 230 PA with runner on third and less than two outs and they have as a team a 16.0% k rate. I would say that you probably cannot find a team with better conversion than that.

The real issue with the Cubs is they hit .207/.320/.358 with runner on third and two out.

The problem with that at bat was that pitch was in the same place for the third consecutive pitch. I do not care how hard you throw, throw it that many times in the same place at the same speed and MLB guys will square it up.

Dude, you are 100% right that this is on Joe Maddon (and walks doing you in). I don't even think Jake should have even gone back out there at all. It wasn't even necessary. If you've got this great bullpen Rondon would have been fine to get 3 outs and Chapman to get 3 outs. Game over. Joe got too cute!
