I love Contreras and he seems to click with Hendricks right now. But seeing him in LF with Ross catching Lackey says something. They did not click on their last game together. Montero is not much of a hitter anymore. But his knowlege should prove valuable to Contreras this and next year. I don't see Schwarber getting much time at catcher next year. It seems smarter to go forward with Contreras.
Contreras is ready going forward, but the issue is having Monterro on the team with Maddon's short bench. Having a sub .200 PH is not acceptable

6 man rotation with starters going 6 innings? WTF, what a bunch of pussies. Wonder how 4 man rotations worked for 70 years with starters going 7-9 innings.

Ya high mounds pitching 70-80 mph fastballs. The good old days... Think the big train pitched 96 which was unheard of back then.

The reality is pitchers will adapt to the work load given to them. I personally feel that the Japan leagues make more sense on how they deal with their staffs and work loads. Those pitchers pitch near 150 pitches per game 1 per week

Ross retiring subtract a vet back up to help Contreras mature. Add another unproven like Schwarber to catch the days off....

Ya great.

WTF you talking about? You mean guys like Koufax, Ryan, Steve Carlton, Drysdale, Jenkins all throwing 96 MPH on a 4 day rotation

Bullpens werent specialized back then. Also, the average league velocity keeps rising and the mound was changed to help hitters. You are comparing apples to oranges.

Nonsense. Steve Carlton throwing 95 mph and going 8 innings every 4 days > any current 95 mph starter going 6 innings every 5-6 days

The pitching mound was lowered in 1968. There were a lot of years after that when starting pitchers were going deep into games and there were a lot of complete games. Have you ever heard of Ferguson Jenkins?

The basics of that study was 3 days of rest to 4 days has no impact either way. What it did do is watered down the pitching.

Here is the thing: pitchers are trained to pitch every 5th day now. Taking a pitcher and shortening his body's normal cycle would most likely result in injury. This is something that should be started in the lower levels if they went there. But they never will with the investment going on to major league players. No owner wants to end up paying a broken ace for years after he blew up his arm by adding work load they never had before.

It is much easier to lessen vs add work.

Anybody know the roster moves to make room for Warren and La Stella? I'm not finding them.

Peralta was DFA'd. Im not seeing another move.

I just heard speculation that they might be waiting on an update Ross' condition after getting dinged yesterday. If he goes on the DL it will obviously change their plans.
