They need multiple guys. No one is pitching him as a blue chip addition. But I do think he would improve the rush. And again he is still 25 and two years out from a major injury. There is potential upside too.
He has an issue of not playing to his assignment; always free lancing for his stats. He has no potential, his numbers have been stagnant for 3 years now. According to PFR, he only had 34 pressures last year(PFF has him at 7 sacks/66pressures while everyone else has him at 5.5). The top 10 pick has to be an impact DL--Young could be a complementary piece but thats about all he is. He's a liability in the run game and this defense has a crappy run defense, so Im not even sure he would be a net positive if he cant play the run.

Eh does Young move the needle on this defense? lol no. This DL needs an impact player, not another decent player. That’s the issue. Young is a below average DE in the league.
He’s not even a starter. He’s a situational player.

Yup, I remember well the gut punch of hearing Ryan was going to take the Eagles job during that '85 SB I think, or maybe right after.

Stunned and depressed, even for a 15 yr old.

Too bad we can't go back in time and send Ditka to Philly and promote Ryan to head coach.
What did Ryan ever do as a HC? He coached vs Da Coach 3 times and lost all 3. Ryan couldn't get past the first Rd. of a playoff. Don't get me wrong I was a big Ryan fan...who wasn't? But DC was his limit. Ryan never won a big game as a HC. But I do agree with you that it was a 'gut punch' when Ryan left, but everybody knew he was leaving.

Would rather draft a high DE, sign a different veteran and continue to develop Booker and start Sweat. It really all comes down to what happens in FA

What do you think I am suggesting? Exactly that. You want to solve this it won’t be in free agency

Did he actually play or just cash checks?
I would like the know the answer to this if anyone can help me out. Don't want a Jalen Carter type to play when he feels like it.

I’d rather them go a different route. Josh Sweat is better. Young has also been a cancer in the locker room as well.

I hope he brings in a veteran QB to be a locker room mentor to Caleb. Not from a personality/attitude perspective, but with helping with game prep and what to focus on week in and week out to be ready from the first whistle.

Having only Bagent in there was a huge miss by Poles/Eberflus/Waldron imo, as he was the most unqualified 'veteran' a potentially great QB has had to start their career since Peyton, and I think it greatly contributed to a lot of the slow and off target starts for Caleb.

It doesn't have to be another great QB, but someone who has been around the block and done well enough to stick on an NFL roster for several years. To compare to what the other great QB of this era had as a veteran presence in the locker room to start:

Brady had Bledsoe
Brees had Flutie
Rodgers had Favre
Mahomes had Smith
Eli had Warner
Rivers had Brees
Stafford had Culpepper
Jackson had Flacco
Big Ben had Tommy Maddox
Allen had Derek Andersen

Only Peyton probably had a similar veteran-less start with only Kelly Holcomb as his backup, and he obviously also struggled mightily as a rookie despite being probably the top QB prospect ever and having two hall of fame targets in Faulk and Harrison.

As stated earlier, Chase Young doesn’t move the needle.

PFF counts half sacks as whole sacks. So the difference in sacks is because he had 4 whole sacks and 3 half sacks so the NFL counts that as 5.5. PFF counts it as 7 on the basis that even if the other guy wasnt there Young would still have gotten the sack.

Young would be a rotational piece. Give hin 50% of snaps and let him go max effort on those snaps. Add a 1st or 2nd round DE and re-sign Martin and your Edge rotation would be Sweat, Young, Martin, rookie and Booker. That probably keeps everyone fresh.

Odunze putting up 734 yards and 3 TDs as the #3 WR in a horrible offense with a rookie QB is not bad at all. That’s also considering all the missed opportunities that there were. He has some things he needs to improve on though.
And if he becomes the No. 2 WR then he should go over a 1,000 yds......but has been mentioned, he really needs to get better at blocking. A team doesn't consistently keep drives moving if part of its scheme is shut down. That being the outside run game.

Yea, maybe surprised at the speed in which it all went down... but nothing else. I refuse to believe people are that surprised he didn't go to the Raiders, of all teams.
Definitely in agreement with you. Personally, I wouldn't want to work with Brady. Granted he was a great QB, but there's something about his personality that I wouldn't want to be around him for any period of time. I can't quite but my finger on it, but he's kind of annoying to me. Maybe Johnson sees it also. Whatever is BJ's reason for not going to the Raiduhs, I'm glad he chose DA Bears.

Maybe it's whatever it is that led him to fire his GM after one season cause of the off chance that he could get Ben Johnson, haha.

Don't know anything about the Young one, but from posts and graphs, I say no. And if he is a locker room cancer then don't even think about him. The hardest of hard passes.

Didn't know that. Followed that kind of stuff when younger, but now just Bears stuff. Thanks for letting me know.

Eddie is smart. He got his name out there. I had no clue he was coaching and I’m sure the majority of other people didn’t either. He can and should leverage this to a better coaching gig in college

Who knows, maybe the bears and Ben take him as a rb coach or something
You don't think NFL people knew Eddie George was coaching because you didn't? That's an odd take.

I could see a possibility it being an interview for the staff disguised as an HC interview.

Raiders, even with Brady trying to fix it, are even more dysfunctional than the bears. And they don't have a QB. Anyone that thinks having Caleb and some of the other talent at skill positions wasn't a factor is absolutely following themselves.
