What if he can manage to bring Aaron Glenn with him?!?! Holy!!!
Johnson got Dennis Allen as DC who is way better. He's already taken two shots at head coaching so he's got good experience and won't be poached immediately.

How many times have we had a good coordinator on the other side of the ball to the HC? We're going back a long way before Fangio.

Since getting fired as the Raiders head coach his defences have finished, 32nd, 31st *deep breath* 10th, 14th, 13th, 5th, 4th, 9th, 8th and this year 19th. That's a pretty solid run!

Glancing at the NO rosters over that period, I'm not seeing overwhelming talent either? Cameron Jordan, Marshon Lattimore and Demario Davis certainly but whilst I'll have missed some others, I don't think it screams roster that can't help but be top 10?

Hiring someone like Allen who can lock down his side of the fort whilst Johnson gets up to speed with being a HC, is literally invaluable imo.

I’m not even sure Chase Young is better than Demarcus Walker. They are roughly provide the same production and really are just depth pieces. You can’t really say that Young has potential anymore; he is who he is.

66 pressurs vs 39 is a decent gap. Walker also gets a fair amount of pressure playing inside and really should play more inside. Young is more of a pure edge.

Depends on who is on the board at #10. If there is a clear blue chip pass rusher while at the same time only a projection at OL, I would think you take the pass rusher. Both are needs.

The reverse is true as well.
True. It appears that the real blue chip defensive line talent will be gone before our pick though. Long way to go though so we'll see.

Yesterday's Eddie George interview was a totally transparent move to be Rooney rule compliant so that they could hire BJ today. Thanks, Eddie 🫡
That's why the RR should be gone....organizations are going to hire whom they what and no rule will change that. There are ways around these things.....And the sin is it wastes people's time. That's a no-no in my book.

I can see them regressing on both sides, they're still talented but we'll see
No offense, but da Bears lost 10 in a row this past season...how much regression can be added to that? I would agree that maybe the first quarter of next season they won't look sharp & crisp because the learning of a new system, but hopefully after the first handful of games they start to put things together and look like a Pro team.

The only rb I like in this draft is Henderson.

Stay away from scootybooty , and guy endorsed by Daniel is trash
I like the Scootster...granted I only seen him play twice, but seriously..why wouldn't you want him? He's fast enough and definitely tough and is a high-energy guy, rah-rah guy....I haven't noticed any major flaws.

Schefter also floating Dennis Allen is the top candidate to become DC.

I like this pairing a lot. Love they're ditching Cover who for Cover 1 multi-front 4-2-5/3-4 hybrid, and like Fangio did for Akiem Hicks, ideally Allen does for Gervon and get him to the next level. Going to need a pass rusher and a 350 lb fatty NT.

Please start revamping the OL by firing Chris Morgan into the sun.
Da Bears still have Billings. I'd think all the assistants from Flus are gone. Love to see Dex get to the next level.

I hate blanket statements with no details behind the statement. She offers no reasons why people are surprised. A real Perry Mason.
Yea, maybe surprised at the speed in which it all went down... but nothing else. I refuse to believe people are that surprised he didn't go to the Raiders, of all teams.

Go look at the difference between pressures.

DJ Moore is a baller. He had a down year, but then again, so did everyone. We hired Waldron whom no player who ever played for him had much good to say about him, Jaxon Smith-Ngiba being the most notable one who was basically saying he sucked and hated his scheme. So if Moore is down and Keenan Allen looked washed a year after his best per-game statistical year of his career then it's reasonable to assume that Odunze wasn't put in a position to succeed either.

Comparing apples to apples with Detroit, you've got:

St. Brown - DJ Moore. They're comparable players with St. Brown having always been a great possession/slot type guy with Moore being more of a YAC/big play guy.
Williams - Odunze. Williams had a nice year finally but Odunze figures to be much more of a well rounded receiver still with great big-play ability and massive upside. Williams obviously is the faster guy who takes tops off defenses.
LaPorta - Kmet. I'd take LaPorta over Kmet but it's not like the gulf would be huge. Everyone knows Kmet was severely underutilized this year.
Montgomery - Johnson. No one was really sad to see Montgomery go other than for sentimental reasons. He's a quality back but far from dynamic and his value is in his versatility: same for Johnson.
Gibbs - Swift. I'd certainly take Gibbs but Swift is a similar play who thrives in space and our offensive line specialized in not creating space.
Goff - Williams. No one in their right mind wouldn't take Williams' sky-high upside over Goff who's been really good in the regular season and has a storied history of choking in the playoffs and when under pressure. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that Johnson jumped at the opportunity to work with Williams cause it's not like the Bears have much else going for them by way of organizational success and so on.

The whole point is that the Lions' skill players have been put in position to succeed by Johnson's schemes and now we have Johnson to do the same for us. The missing piece is the offensive line now but we'll see what happens in the offseason. If Johnson a real deal unicorn of coaching like a Sean McVay then it would be expected to see the Bears' skill players put up much bigger numbers as the Lions have and thus not be seen anymore as "nothing special."
Skill positions...............Bears still need a bell cow runner. What drives the lion's offense, it all starts upfront with the outstanding OL. Bears are in a perfect position this off season in free agency and the draft to fix the OL and give Johnson that starting point.

Guy looks like a dweeb. I assume Beardom will once again get a heavy dose of the peter principle. Dweeby OC has success focusing on his one job while a kickass HC controls the locker room & has guys willing to run thru walls for him. There's a reason the bears always get the guy that on paper looks good, It's because The McCaskeys are dweebs & they like other dweebs.
Thanks for weighing in. Go back to the Lions forum.

Eh does Young move the needle on this defense? lol no. This DL needs an impact player, not another decent player. That’s the issue. Young is a below average DE in the league.
Oh, I would bring Young in but still use the #39 or #41 pick in the draft for an edge.

They need multiple guys. No one is pitching him as a blue chip addition. But I do think he would improve the rush. And again he is still 25 and two years out from a major injury. There is potential upside too.

LOL. And they are whining like a bunch of schoolgirls that Johnson was developing his staff instead of gameplanning for the Commanders. That is why they lost. Had nothing to do with 4 turnovers.

I read some of these posts and the Detroit "fans" are something else. The Offense scores 31 and "fans" are blaming the OC? Bitter is not the word but it's a start.
