Did he actually play or just cash checks?
He played well but he had to play well , I believe it was just a 1yr deal?

Caleb playing the entire year was huge for experience. I would imagine a lot of the offseason work will focus on his footwork and timing. It should have regardless, but with the new offense it will be even more important.
And with a HC/OC that actually had legit success.

I don't see the Bears skill players as anything special. Odunze was ok as a rookie. probably a bit of a disappointment, and Moore had a down season. Swift is a limited RB who rarely breaks tackles and Roshon is nothing special. I'd like to see a quality RB drafted and a speedy type WR.

Detroit prioritized both O line and offensive playmakers. The Bears should do the same.
Odunze was definitely not much to write home about this year. Seemed he had no interest in blocking and his hands left much to be desired. He’s still a rookie but I think he’ll make a considerable jump this year

Swift is just meh, Johnson is just a power back(small sample but had a high success rate on short yardage runs) but neither are dangerous. I imagine Johnson will get his speed back in this draft, I can’t imagine he’s thrilled with Swift since he was already in Detroit when they traded him. You have to believe that Johnson also signed off on his departure.

What is playing well for him? I know he has had a very mediocre career. Looks like he only had 5.5 sacks last year which isn’t great. Was his overall game better?

Yes but he has no choice but to prove himself. Dude wants a contract, would hope they don’t sign him. This DL doesn’t need another player that simply plays “well.” It needs an impact player. Badly.

Odunze I think will turn out to be a good possession receiver. DJ is excellent. Kmet is solid. The rb room is subpar. Johnson is backup level and Swift is a pretty good change of pace back.

If they go offense in the 1st, a guy like Simmons would be a good pick. And as much as many would hate it, anticipate some people mocking Jeanty to them at 10. If people want playmakers, well, I think that guy will definitely be a playmaker in the league.

Who knows though. So many different ways they can go. This is going to be such a fun offseason.

As much as I like mock drafts, it’s tough to say what they will do until free agency settles. At least we will know the schemes now on offense & defense.

Zeitler would be a good temporary solution to the RG spot. A guy like Donovan Jackson in the 2nd, and that OL suddenly gets a whole lot better.

He still may be an impact player. He’s only 25. DL take a while sometimes. All depends on the contract. (One year absolutely. 3-4 years absolutely not)

Yeah, last year the RBs all changed teams in free agency. Maybe that goes on again.

There are 44 FA RBs in 2025. About 10 are useful.

I wouldn’t mind him on a reasonable deal. I have no idea what the money in that deal would look like though. A lot of potential, but the production hasn’t always matched.

I’m fine with it. Wouldn’t want to break the bank for him though. At the end, he’s still better than 99% of our ends.

He’s not better than Sweat, and there are only 4 to 5 ends on the team. They could do worse than signing him, I’d rather they draft a DE high though.

I have no complaints. Getting a Head Coach/OC that loves running the ball and most likely a top Defensive Coordinator.

I'm just still upset over Carter and Verse totally dominating yesterday.
It's hard to watch a game these days without getting really upset at having to watch the people we could have had.
