Not so sure about this....another inexperienced HC. Got to remember, he ran that offense behind what is probably the best OL in football. Just because it jelled in Detroit doesn't guarantee it happens here with this sad sack OL.

Another guy came to Chicago with Andy Reid's offense....how'd that work out?
Every team should want the best Oline in the league. Let's build it here

I have just one request. Just fix the offensive line and blocking scheme. And not with some broken, re-tread potato-scraps. Let's see who he hires.

Thomas Brown to stay on the Bears staff as OC for Johnson? Interesting. I don't hate it, but that would surprise me.
Yeah man, no idea if that’s true. Just what I’ve heard. I have a lot of respect for Brown stepping up and taking the reins in that dysfunction. Could do a lot worse than Brown learning under Johnson.

True. But hiring Johnson is a big win. One of the most highly regarded up and coming coaches who turned down other interviews and even a job last year to wait for what he viewed as the best opportunity, and he accepted our job (and Caleb). No reason not to be happy about it at the moment but we'll see how it turns out over the next couple years.

Exactly. We have no idea how this will turn out, just like we had no idea how Getsy would turn out and Waldron after him (even though they are OCs and this is a HC).

Regarding the job last year that he turned down, I think if he had any idea how good Daniels was, he would have jumped at that job.

Now...can't we get the right guy once? I'm using my 'one time' right here and right now.

One time!

I am shocked if its true. Anyone they hire, draft, sign, etc I am now completely in prove it mode, no more buying into hype. I hope this guy turns into the next Vince Lombardi and they now turn the corner but until it actually happens I have no expectations of success with the franchise.

I think we are all on that boat, we'd have to be delusional not to be.

But we can hope.

Here's a bit of a called it that I had not seen

LOL. And they are whining like a bunch of schoolgirls that Johnson was developing his staff instead of gameplanning for the Commanders. That is why they lost. Had nothing to do with 4 turnovers.

I just feel so good! Bears really are trying to go for it, as a fan that’s about all I can ask for. Will it work who knows but at least this time, they are doing everything they can.

This staff sounds so legit it’s not just Johnson though obviously it starts with him.

So why did the interview 70 people?
So nobody can accuse them of not being thorough. I think that's why they hired Ben Johnson too, I think George and Virginia didn't like the fact that some people were saying some mean things so they made the obvious and popular choice.

Feels like if the Pats waited and offered him the job, he would have taken it.

Not really. They knew that Johnson was leaving this year as he could have the year before but chose to give it one more run with the Lions in hopes of winning a superbowl. They've known Glenn is likely on the way out as well. It'd be different if you weren't expecting it.

Yup, I remember well the gut punch of hearing Ryan was going to take the Eagles job during that '85 SB I think, or maybe right after.

Stunned and depressed, even for a 15 yr old.

Too bad we can't go back in time and send Ditka to Philly and promote Ryan to head coach.
