He was standing with his back to Hossa who ran him. And no one even knows the extent of the injury.

Boynton cant help it if he's made of steel.

Big Hossa tree fall hard.

Im just trying to understand what happened exactly .... was this some calamity of a breakout where Hossa thought he was center and steamrolled himself into Boynton? Still have not yet heard what actually happened.

I usually find humor in most things, even topics or situations where humor is unacceptable.

This though, is not funny.

I get it and know that people are definitely not serious, but I agree.

Hell....I think Hjarllmasson up to this point has been more disappointing than Boynton. After signing a 3.5million dollar offer sheet to leave the Hawks, he's averaged a whopping :58 per game than Nick (18:47 to 17:49)

Has 4 less points, is a -3 ....and has the same number of blocked shots (53) and giveaways (17)

Agree up to about 6 games ago. Hjarlmarsson's game is coming, while Boynton's is getting worse. We lost the San Jose game 100% due to Boyntons first two give aways. Both ended up right in the back of the net. 1st goal and 3rd.

Some say it's the ice time but at that point in the game it was 7 minutes into his TOI.

You get what you pay for and he's the league minimum. Just as Cullimore. Although I think Cullimore has actually been more consistent than Boynton, they both SUCK and shouldn't be on this team.

Here's all I've seen so far on it

Roughly halfway through the Blackhawks' Monday practice, defenseman Nick Boynton turned toward the goal and, from behind, winger Marian Hossa banged into his teammate in a collision that did not look particularly startling.

Then Boynton stayed on the ice, face-down. As did Hossa. After a few moments, Boynton skated off grimacing. But Hossa couldn't make it to the wall without two members of the medical staff propping up the star winger, one under each shoulder.

"I was facing backward, and yeah, he ran into me," Boynton said. "I'm not sure what happened.

"I just kind of got the wind knocked out of me, personally, so I'm not sure if he got the worse end of the stick or what happened. We both obviously didn't see each other, I don't think. So I'm not sure what's up."

Quenneville and Kitchen were at Pat Burns Funeral and did not attend the practice.

Although not sure Q would give anything more he'd be able to say if it was serious or not. Which he usually does.

Agree Hjarlmasson has been better of late (as had Keith)...but he doesnt/didnt get crucified as much as Boynton has.

The last 2 games - since Keith finally (and hopefully it continues) pulled his head out of his ass - the team has been able to properly slot the Dmen and Boynton/Cully have been playing appropriate minute the last 2 games.

As far as the SJ game that you continue to blame Boynton as the sole reason for the loss....the second goal was scored at the 4:38 mark of the second period. At that time, Boynton played 9:06 of the first 24:38 ...which would have put him on pace for about 19+ minutes in that game. Thats way out of his head/league....but unfortunately, up until that point in the season...some of the other Dmen in the group didnt give the team much of a choice.

I disagree he wasn't as hammered as Boynton. In fact I'd say quite the opposite because he just signed the 3.5 mil contract. Similar to Keith, who, like Hjarmarsson, has been much better in the last 8 games.

mean while Boynton is getting worse. He played 17 minutes against San Jose, which I do agree with you is far too much time. But giveaway #1 to turn the momentum instantly was 4 minutes into the game.

either way shit happens and I don't blame him for knocking out Hossa. That's just dumb. It could have been any two players colliding.

Boynton is what he is. Unfortunately our Cap Space doesn't allow for anything better.

SERIOUS QUESTION: Boynton or Scott? (remember Scott can "play" Forward if need be).

Boynton. Scott can play forward where skating backwards is not as imperative. John Scott does not skate backwards well.

Can I say Buff as an option? I thought he played excellent back there late last year when Campbell went down. Saved this team probably a playoff spot or two.

Hind sight I'd rather have Buff than Hjarmarsson right now. Much more versatile of a player and less expensive.

After that 2nd giveaway in the second period...he only saw 1 more shift at the 17min mark in that period

1st - 9 shifts 6:33

2nd - 3 shifts 3:19

3rd - 9 shifts 6:59

TOT 16:51

I think Niemi stole that game (and 0-4 on the PP including a 2man advantage for about 50 seconds when the game was 3-1)more than Boynton losing it.

But the Hawks are playing much better as the players are now finding thier roles (including Boynton and Cullimore in less minutes) as you and I both have been saying from the get go...give them time.

Last up, IMO.....is Bolland.

I hear ya with that hindsight.

I said the other day, I wish they'd kept Reasoner and Ladd....and moved Bolland. That would have been a MUCH better 3rd line ....Ladd - Reasoner - Brouwer

With the way Ladd has been playing he'd probably be on the 2nd line.

Yes, Boynton has blown lately. He isn't a Norris candidate, and never will be. He was responsible for 1.5 goals in the SJ game. I participated in the it should have been Boynton thing, and will continue to, as I find it funny.

However, I will take him on this team right now. We can speculate who awesome Buff would be on this team, but he is not. Hell, we can throw Lidstrom on the blue line in our minds and watch this team take off,but that isn't gonna make it so.He was thye goat in that SJ game, but he also had a helper in that game. The Hawks had a 5 on 3 and didn't do shit. Last season and this so far COMBINED have 2 goals 5 on 3. THAT is more of a concern to me then any Boynton flub.

If Boynton was making as much as any of the top 4 D out there, I would hate him. Hell, if he was making what Duncs made last year I would be as pissed as RK at Tim Peel.

I'd kill for Ladd and Buff back. God I miss those guys. They made Nuck games must see TeeVee.
