This "fight" is getting so blown out of proportion.

It had zero effect on the game, is my point. Neither team had a PP out of it. They scored about 6 1/2 minutes later - with an extra attacker. Hawks still went into the 3rd up by 3....and oh yeah, still won the game.

I agree that fighting is pretty much useless. It's proven in the playoffs and in the Olympics - the best played hockey - that its meaningless.

My point was/is - the fight was meaningless....didnt effect the outcome one bit. But apparently, STL wouldve lost by 4 instead of 2. Great job Crombeen.

Dude.... people are just saying it was pointless to drop the gloves there... you are LITERALLY the only one disagreeing. Quite frankly I'm thinking Kerfuffle got your account info.

Even the Stanley Cup winning coach agrees....

And...as far as point of views - In Scott's fight against LA....all the Hawk fans prob think they got this "momentum", since Scott bloodied him. Yet...Terry Murray said it gave his team a boost, Westgarth got his team going by getting into that fight.

So who got this "momentum" - if both teams claim it?

Maybe both teams can stand up on the bench and chant...

"We got spirit yes we do, we got spirit how about you!?" ....and who ever is louder, has the momentum...and the other team is doomed.

No...people were saying it gave STL "momentum" and got them back into the game. I said it was meaningless.

But now, I have agreed. Boynton nearly cost the team the game and I hate him too. He sucks.

Was the score 5-1 in the Kings game? Come on man... you know the game, I know you do... why are you being so fuckin stubborn? Why the hell is there a point for Boynton to drop the gloves? The "code" that you or someone quoted earlier does not say you have to be a nimrod and drop the gloves everytime you're challenged.

Actually there's several tough guy codes regarding fighting-

Code 1- When challenged, a tough guy must respond.

Code 2- When challenged, a tough guy does not respond with a 5-1 lead.

Code 3- When challenged, Sean Avery starts to skate away and waits for the opponent to drop his guard then attacks.

On Code 3... maybe his opponents shouldn't have the reflexes of a 70 year old like Smid did.... lol

Anyone able to find the youtube video of Trent Hunter nailing Avery into the boards in Avery's comeback to the NHL game after being sent to the minors

The amount of times you have contradicted yourself in this thread is what's ridiculous here. So Terry Murray says a fight in which his player got destroyed gave his team a boost. Yet, you still don't see how Boynton fighting Crombeen when St. Louis was down 5-1 would give St. Louis a boost? And why it wasn't very smart of Boynton to drop the gloves in that situation? If these logical fallacies from you continue, I'm going to have to expand my ignore list.

I'm sure Kopecky playing with Sharp and Hossa for a couple games is why we're on a 4-1 run right now too... It has nothing to do with everyone else's play.

What the **** does Kopecky have to do with this thread anyway? Oh, you were trying to take a shot at me. Carry on then.

Feel free to ignore me. I tried several days ago and was unable to add you on there for some reason.

And, I didnt contradict - my point was in Murray saying that...then of course the Hawk fans saying Scott destroying him gave the Hawks the boost...who really got the momentum, if both teams claim they got it?

The Kopecky shot? It simply shows that if you don't like a player - that has more to do with them "sucking", not thier play or contributions. If you dont like them, the suck and should be benched, hurt the team, etc.

But please do ignore me and let me know how I can do the same.

I have no problems at all with Kopecky, and I ate my crow in regards to him last year after the Olympics. If he continues to play how he played last game, over the first several games of the season, and the end of last year, he's a steal and I love him. My problem was with him playing like total shit once Hossa got hurt, yet, still getting top six minutes over other guys. It has absolutely nothing to do with me not liking him, and everything to do with how shitty he has played. I shouldn't rag on Boynton because he's a #6 making league minimum, and I shouldn't rag on Kopecky because he's playing in our top six and sucking. Seriously, when is it OK, by your standards, to rag on a player for shitty play? Only if his name is Duncan Keith? Seems about right.

My beef with Kopecky when he was playing like poop is that Q didn't move Skille or Stalberg up at that time and those two guys are the hardest working guys on the team. They are slowly replacing Ladd in my heart.

Funny thing is, I even say right in the quote that pmx used "the last 10 games". So, it isn't like I was blasting Kopecky as a player, as if I hate him. I was blasting his play over....wait for it.... "the last 10 games". Weird, I know.

I just want to add, that I never played, but my point of view.... I don't care. It's the BLOWS, and time is a good time to drop the gloves. We'll see them again, and again, and it will happen again, they are one of our biggest rivals and you don't back down. A different team, if it would have been say the coyotes, or something like that, then no maybe its not a good time. But Wangs, Blows, even the Fucks, Throw down anytime, everytime.

I just don't agree with this (Nemesis!!). Look at last night's game, for example. The Hawks were already missing two of their better PKers in Hossa and Pisani to start with, then they were down a forward via Kane's injury, yet Dowell (one of the stronger PKers remaining) drops the gloves and absents himself for 5 minutes? That didn't seem very smart to me under the circumstances -- indeed, the timing and circumstances were much worse than for Boynton's fight (where we're talking only about momentum).

I know it's difficult for the player to refuse a fight because nobody wants to look like a wimp, but they've got to think about the circumstances, IMO.
