It was 4th and 20 and Maye had a man running up the sidelines and he literally threw the ball 10 yards out of bounds. I mean, like 10 to 15 yards out of bounds. It was incredible….

I don’t think I have ever seen a ball thrown so badly. It was way closer to the bleachers than it was the sideline.

I have never seen a guy so highly ranked miss so badly. But it gets better. Just before that he missed a guy running across the middle of the field by like 10 yards.

His accuracy comes and goes…. and it goes more than it comes. His misses are staggeringly bad!! Like next level bad!! Like freshman/sophomore HS team bad.

He was below 50% for the first half.... got up to 50% midway thru the 3rd.... then (with the game well out of reach) going into the 4th and in garbage time started stat padding to get up to 22 of 38 by the end of the game. Not good but not horribly bad.

But here is where it gets bad --- 3 TURNOVERS tonight..... 2 picks and 1 lost fumble.

This has been par for the course. He consistently throws picks. Right up at the top (#1 or #2) for most PICKS out of the top guys with 1st round potential.

He also has the lowest QBR out of all the top ranked QB's coming out. Was at 79 before tonight.... now will likely be in the mid 70's for QBR.

This guy is vastly OVERRATED. He will still get drafted somewhere in the 1st round and make millions (good for him), but I would not touch this guy with a 10 foot pole. With all the holes in his game/spotty accuracy/the way he turns the ball over/the way he shrinks against better competition, etc....he has huge bust potential.

It’s just noise. I wouldn’t bet any money on it if I were you.

No one is betting any money - but it's silly to dismiss everything as "noise".

Not saying this is for sure happening either, but I'm not going to ignore how teams put out what they want out on the sly.

Maye has a lovely arm and pretty good feet, but I don’t see him as an upgrade over Fields at all. He is pretty inaccurate at times.

There are a lot of projects this years QB pool. Stroud and Young were head and shoulders above the rest last year.

I see a bunch of Anthony Richardsons this year. Lots of athletic ability but alot of flaws in each QB prospect. Takes great coaching and pretty good position to develop them. Tbh I think none of them are ready to step up in their rookie year.

The ankle came very late in the game. He maybe had one drive on the bad ankle.

You didnt watch the game. Apparently no one watches the games.
I watched a decent amount of the games today and the best QB I saw was McCarthy.

This is not an endorsement for him. Basing evals on one weekend is stupid though.

I haven’t watched enough of Maye to have a definitive opinion, but the people making excuses for him and Williams are the same people not extending the same for Fields.

They need to stick with Justin and actually build a football team. Drafting Wright was a start; now you grab another tackle and MHJ and we’re cooking.

I love both Fields and Maye and I probably see more of the opposite. All the excuses in the world for Fields but not Maye

Like i said the other day the QB discourse has become obnoxious. People just put down other qbs because of their support for another or make these grand judgements after one game or worse, a game they didn’t even watch.

I just don’t see Fields getting a 3rd coaching staff and if him staying means another year of Flus and Getsy, I’m sorry but I’m moving on.

I watched his game last night and a few from the year. I don't know if he's a franchise QB or not but I know he and Caleb Williams offensive lines are trash. Seemed he was pressured most of the time. I go back to some Mahomes games. He was running around throwing crazy passes and didn't look that good either when he played good teams. College is a hard eval.

Both lines are putrid. Last night wasn't Mayes best but that whole team looked like they were going through the motions, especially whatever that thing posing as Tez Walker was. There doesnt look like there is much of any NFL talent on that team, certainly not at a day 1-2 level.

Why don’t you see Fields getting a 3rd staff?

I think there’s obvious improvement and the coaching staff is ass…I could see the argument that if you give fields a real coaching staff and another weapon like MHJ, even more improvement and better results should be expected

At some point, he’s gotta show he’s the guy. He has to leave no doubt and elevate everyone around him. It’s not ALL on him, for sure, but he hasn’t shown that yet.

It’s about potential versus likelihood. Fields’ talent and potential have never been in question.

But seeing everything we’ve seen—Can one honestly say they believe the most likely outcome is that Fields flips a switch, elevates everyone around him, and leaves no doubt that he’s the guy?

Or is it more likely this is who he is—a supremely talented QB who can make the big plays but also can’t string together any semblance of consistency as a dangerous passer?

Fans have to honestly ask themselves which is more likely.
