I'm just surprised that they went together... and to a team that only had what, like one top 100 prospect (although he was a top 15 prospect)?

I'm not sure what to make of this... someone please break this down for me/us...

Im guessing rumors were correct in that teams were not all that impressed with samardzija to give up top pitching prospects for him..


I guess they got better talent by dealing both together to Oakland...

I guess so... I'm blaming my disappointment on beckdawg for talking up the hauls we were gonna get with these two...

Unless we decide that this is actually a great haul... in which case... I don't know.

Stop worrying about pitching, everyone. Theo will trade some of our position prospects for great pitching. That's why he's stacking positions players. I feel like he doesn't want to take a chance with a young pitcher and would rather trade for a proven ace.

Nothing wrong with the haul they received here. Strailey is a rotation spot that is under control until 2019, and his ERA should lower by a half point by going to the NL, and the other two were the A's top two prospects heading into 2014.

McKinney is a corner outfielder, left hander with power, and Russell is a SS. PTBNL could be interesting.

The Cubs basically loaded up the farm even more, so expect them to have an arsenal to trade for a front line starter in the near future.

You will see the next wave at Daytona consist of Almora, McKinney, and soon to be Schwarber.
