Im not a big fan of the WAR stat, but it is useful when comparing players.

What do the Cubs need a "good" pitcher for? There are plenty of those. They need TOR.What has Castro proven?
Also, I said a good pitcher. Nowhere did I make reference to a level of experience.
I dont know, 3 time all star at age 24. Will have over 800 hits by the end of his 24 year old season. Is putting up career numbers almost across the board. His walk rate is now up to 6.2 percent which is another career high. Oh and he is not in his prime year yet and is younger then the average age of rookies in the majors. I know its hard not to be a hater but thats what you are to him.
Castro proven he a quality major league talent that has taken him to AS level as a SS.What has Castro proven?

What were trying to tell you is sure you can trade him for a good young starter but they better make sure before they do that castro replacement is of equal to better talent and who they traded for is a sure thing before you give up on s quality major league talent at AS level.
He was voted in by the players. The players do not care how big or small the market is.Saying Castro has made 3 all star team is stupid. Being an all star is skewed towards large market teams since it's largely fan voting. The Cubs have/had a massive fan base. Eight year olds vote on the all star game. Also, as someone pointed out, each team has to have at least one player.
It really means nothing relative to this discussion.

So your only disagreement is his AS appearances cause you feel players in NY LA Chic only make AS teams because of where they play not because they have AS talent.Saying Castro has made 3 all star team is stupid. First off even if their city just voted for them, that wouldn't be enough to beat out a whole country voting for say a better player on another team.
Next reserve players are voted in by players and coaches I believe.
so, i think you need to give players who make AS teams a little more credit then you do
I believe Castro was a fill in and not a fan/coaches pick his 2nd AS appearance.
Wasn't LaHair the original Cub that met the "1from each" obligation?
I think your in a very small minority who dont think Castro is an AS caliber player..Not only AS appearances.

I dont disagree but that someone is usually the best player on team if its just the one...
considering the cubs have 3 players representing, means all 3 are deserving and put up AS numbers for their position.
I dont understand why some of you real cubs fans hate on Castro so much, yes he made some dumb mental mistakes which were seeing less of this year. I cant even think of any that stands out for this year. But he a 24 YO kid who is rounding into a pretty good offensive player and for the most part has been solid with the glove this year.
Time to put last year hitting slump behind and all his past mental mistakes behind because it looks like the kid has taken a step forward in the maturing process.
Last thing we want now as a cubs fan is to trade away young talent too soon and regret it later just because you didn't like the mistakes he made early in his career.
If baez or Russell comes up and out plays him that one thing , but til then castro the guy and he playing good baseball.
