Honestly, page>srv at blues guitar.

I think Page is better than everyone at guitar, but that doesn't make SRV any less awesome.

And personally, I think Ace Frehley is one of the best too but gets overlooked because he was in a band that cared more about theatrics.

Nobody is really saying SRV is not a great guitarist. Some just don't feel he is the best, whatever that is.

I love Page, but I could never rate any guitarist as the GOAT, which is the only reason I pretend disliked the OP. There are so many amazing guitarists, across all genres and eras, that to compare and rate is doing them all a disservice. Best what, anyway? Technique, artistry, tone, or a mixture of all? Some guitarists have amazing technique, but are horrible musically. Some don't have an accomplished technique, but can communicate more sublimely. I'd rather listen to SRV than Al Dimeola or Buckethead.

I was actually going to say that I think Page is the GOAT because he was never pigeonholed into one genre of guitar playing. If I wanted to say who was the best guitarist as in just playing guitar, I'm going with Hendrix.

He was more Chuck Berry than Chuck Berry. Damn black man stealing white music.

and breathing up all the white man's air, too.

T-Bone Walker played Chick Berry guitar licks 10 years before Chuck did...lol

But ... it wasn't your OP that really prompted that post. Don't get all Kantankerous and 'Murican on me.

I've had my "****, this is the best" moments. I understood that. No ill will or pomposity intended.
