They are treating Rick bad

Could bite them later

This is just silly. Any person in the manager position knows damn well that it's something that can change any day. How many times did Stienbrenner fire Billy Martin? Now, if they cast Rick out into the street then sure that's kind of cold but all indications have been they intend to offer him a chance to stay within the organization if he chooses. And if not, so what? They gave him his chances and have clearly made him a more valuable person for his next job having experience. If he stays on, chances are he'll end up a bench coach or something along those lines and he'll have the chance to learn behind arguably the best manager in the league.

Ozzie wants God status in Chicago. Doubt it happens though

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the coaching staff is configured. I don't think they should fire anybody else.

Just curious what Rizzo and Castro think about this, as they greatly improved under Rick. Since it was only 1 year, I doubt we will see any of the players piss and moan like some Bears did over Lovie.

I mean Hinske stayed with the Cubs after during down a promotion with the Yankees, and they just hired their hitting coach. I may have a problem if they fired them

Wouldn't surprise me if coaching staff remains the same for this season. . Maddon will probably just bring in his bench coach which could be dave Martinez if he not hired to take over Rays as manager

Bryant would have to wait 3 weeks or like 12 games to have another year of control. The Cubs are probably going to play that game still.

As well they should.

They can play Ozzie Guillen at 3rd in the meantime, since he is so awesome at everything.

Best friend is a Sox fan. Last Friday I get a text saying, " Joe Maddon is the best manager in baseball IMO. He can turn anyone into a contender. Would love if the Sox got him but for some reason they like Robin". About 20 min ago, "LOL why would the Cubs dump Renteria? Do they think a manager is going to take them to the next level?"

Idk why Sox fans are so worried about the Cubs. I cheered for the Sox in 2005 because I considered the Astros to be a bigger rival being in the same division. Seems like the whole MSU/UM debate. UM has been down and MSU is always worrying about piling it on the to the UM kids, while UM looks down upon them and worries about OSU

A guy made a funny comment on Twitter, poking a little fun...."First time in history 2 World Series winners will be crowned on the same day. Royals/Giants winner and 2015 Cubs."

It's worth getting excited about, but some people should pump the brakes. Oh well this happens anytime a talented team signs a FA or gets a new coach. If this is the biggest contract the Cubs sign this summer the Cubs won't be in a position to contend for any playoff spot
