This is just silly. Any person in the manager position knows damn well that it's something that can change any day. How many times did Stienbrenner fire Billy Martin? Now, if they cast Rick out into the street then sure that's kind of cold but all indications have been they intend to offer him a chance to stay within the organization if he chooses. And if not, so what? They gave him his chances and have clearly made him a more valuable person for his next job having experience. If he stays on, chances are he'll end up a bench coach or something along those lines and he'll have the chance to learn behind arguably the best manager in the league.
