Bolland did just play a 100 games those last 2 years and many games in injury recovery but he it may be true he isn't a best 2nd line fit.

A true valuable 2nd line center is a need.. but to say after that they need to get MORE offensive help just seems backwards. They were still the 4th top scoring team and only 6 goals behind Vancouver. They need defensive help big time besides the other center. A legit final addition to the D core and a legit physical forward.

you are going to rely on an aging sharp and an aging hossa who has had a track record for injuries. you still need another weapon in the west.

Aging Hossa? Possibly, but with that contract they don't have much choice. But an aging Sharp? You are kiddng, aren't you? He's only 29 and he's still fast as hell out there....barring injury, he's got 3 or 4 good years left. Which is exactly the number of years I'd sign him for.

Yeah, and apparently Richards isn't aging. He's getting younger.

Not really. He's older than Sharp.

The same Hossa that hasn't been able to stay healthy since signing here?

Yes. Marian Hossa.

You know how I know Captain Iago is a long time Hawks/hockey fan? Because he consistently posts intelligent opinions in this Blackhawks forum.

To point out your needing to add other offensive weapons. Where are they going to play? If you add a 2nd liner like Richards, unless your trading away some more forwards or not keeping Frolik. You got: Kane,Toews,Sharp,Hoss,2ndlinecenter,Frolik,Bolland,Olesz,bickell too be the likely collection of your first 3 lines maybe a swap in there. If your looking for it on the 4th line you may as well use the rookie options they could pull up.

Laughable to call Hossa a glass house. He's been in and out injured in his time with the Hawks since he had that shoulder injury in the playoff prior but was by comparison a rock before. Just maybe a rest after 3 straight years of being in the Stanley Cup Finals and that Olympic run will help for once instead of assuming he's fragile now because he's past 30.

I hardly post in here, so to judge me based on a few opinions is flat out Special person. I dont post much in here because of the homerism that takes place here.

No way that scrub skates in the top 9. I bet he doesn't even make the team out of camp.

Ultimately, I think it's smart to send Richards an offer, but you by no means give him an offer he cannot refuse (Campbellesque). I imagine he will be offered upwards of 8 and possibly even 9, though. NYR and TO are two franchises with big time cash and enough space to make it work (especially if the Rags are able to buy out/move Drury--otherwise they'll be sacrificing some major depth there). And there may be some surprise teams that make obnoxious offers to help them get a great player and reach the cap floor.

I do not enter a bidding war, though and do not hang my hat solely on him.

I agree with not getting into a bidding war with teams that have a surplus of cap room to offer up a huge deal. I havnt gone on capgeek or nhlnumbers today but I can see LA making a run at him, again not sure if they can afford him or not.

Again, you got rid of a nasty contract for a descent offensive D man who was way over paid, if you replace that contract with a player of richards caliber you have to try to do it. besides the offensive improvement, you would block another west team that is either on the rise or better currently than the blackhawks.

Fillers around the core will be the same shit next year as it was this year.

I don't think LAK are in the conversation anymore now that they've acquired the other Richards.
