It is sort of a moot point, as I think that if the team wants to seriously compete next season that it isn't necessarily going to take that type of a player. But rather a few guys.

If it were me, I would see what I could do next season in order to take a serious shot at winning it all again -which basically means one thing: depth. Stamkos doesn't = depth. Richards might not either, or not enough. Depth at forward, but they might do better to spread it around more.

It is moot, and I do agree...which is why I'm not so on board with Richards.

The Hawks really don't have to do anything drastic or different to take a "serious" shot at winning the cup next year. Unless they makes some seriously poor decisions with their cap space- I think this team is set up to put forth a serious shot at winning for a few years.

I guess they could make some short term deals with some veterans and/or scoop up a few expiring contracts to fill up the roster. Maybe that's what you're talking about. But would moves like that guarantee them a cup any more than just naturally plugging the holes that are there?

Bring up some youth from the system and make a few moves. No need to go all in.

If tire patching is the way of the hawks this year they will not compete with detroit or vancouver. They are coming off of a year where they got in by a dallas loss, no way they go from that to major players for the west by tire patching.

Sort of, I am meaning a legitimate 2nd line centre -or one with that potential. As well as a replacement for Campbell, which could be Wisniewski, or someone similar.

When he signs with either NYR or Toronto we will know that his actual list was this...

1. Most money
2. Most money

To be fair it is pretty hard to argue that Chicago is a better hockey market than Toronto. City's are close in population, and Toronto is hockey first by a mile.

I am hoping that the Hawks are at least making an offer. If he takes something in the 4 year 20 million range, it would be a great deal. I just think at the end of the day when he gets offers twice as good he will take them no matter what the situation.

Im not arguing about Toronto and Chicago...

Im just saying if he really wants BOTH, then Chicago is the choice...

We have the chance to win NOW (Toronto doesnt)
and Chicago is a good hockey market

Yeah that victory celebration had quite the public turnout didn't it?

Toronto has no chance at winning any time soon, they are in perpetual rebuilding mode -so if #1 is criteria - I would say that it limits things to only a few teams.
