Yeah that victory celebration had quite the public turnout didn't it?

Toronto has no chance at winning any time soon, they are in perpetual rebuilding mode -so if #1 is criteria - I would say that it limits things to only a few teams.

Phil Kessel is there..instant champs.

Look the Hawks are clearly a better team than the Leafs right now. I was never trying to argue that the Leafs met both of Richards stated criteria. I was just pointing out the fact that it is hard to argue that Toronto isn't a better hockey market than Chicago. I agree that if Richards wants those two things he can take a smaller deal and come here. I just don't think that the Hawks will even make a low offer to see and/or Richards take that when he gets teams to pony up the 8 years in the 50-55 million range that has been stated as his asking price.

Lots of Richards questions. I think the #Blackhawks will make a call about him but that's another big money commitment. You never know tho.

Sure, give him the option to take a cut at our price with a better chance to win.

NY is going to throw everything at him.

The Kane and Seabrook signings are so ridiculous.

Look at that money and please someone justify why either of them deserve that money.

They don't, period.

Have you noticed the current D contract demands and acquisitions going on?

Or how much point a game players are earning? They also aren't 22 with room to grow as much as him.

Yep!

Seabs is looking like a steal with Bieksa and Ehrhoff asking what they are

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think we're ever going to see Kyle Beach in a Hawks jersey. He's going to be released or traded and become someone's else problem.

I disagree.

With the money being thrown around to other FA Dmen (as others have correctly pointed out) Seabrook's contract doesn't look that bad at all. Should he be making more than Keith? I wouldn't have said that after 2010. But I would say that after 2011.

As for Kane, he's one of the most gifted offensive players to ever step foot in this city. His point-per-game production is becoming more and more rare in the league these days. If that's what it takes to lock him up for a 5-year run of contention, so be it.

Kane and Seabrook are part of the Hawks core, along with Toews, Sharp, and Keith. Those five should be in Chicago for a nice, long time, and they should be paid well. They deserve it.
