God forbid they talk about what a mess the front office is. Personally I think Mcdonough would rather people be talking about Kane than Haviland vs Q, and or anything else "hockey" related.

He shouldn't EVER talk about anything 'hockey' related! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

He's got his wish because neither is ANYONE else. **** even Brooksie the Rangers beat guy is talking about Kane. They just won a game 7, Henriks first time in the WCF's and he starts an article off with Kane and the Hawks?

Fucking idiots. All of them. At least Tracy Myers contacts the DA and Madison PD to make sure there were no charges or even complaints filed. You know since Deadspin is promoting the rumors and guys like Jay schmuck are using them in their "opinions", as they are held to standards you see.

"Interesting Kane nor the Hawks have denied anything".... HUH? Deny what he was out having a good time? Or the baseless RUMORS out there that EVERYONE should take with a grain of salt. Holy ****!

Sad the kid chose to not be in the public eye, even sadder everyone spends so much time on it.

Are we that terrible of a society that we need athletes to be the ones who set the moral/ethical code?

According to newspaper "Journalists" and television "Personalities" we do. What a bunch of hypocritical asshats.

Protect the image of what exactly? Dysfunctional infighting, power struggles with backstabbing prone leadership?

I don't think Rocky nor Scott Bowman would let McD push a trade for Kane. Kane has potential like it or not. Problem is consistency.

A respected person in the IL hockey community and I were having a chat tonight and he said he's not worried about what Kane does off ice, it's what he's not doing on the ice that has him worried.

I think IMO, this is Kanes make or break season coming up. If he drops point wise next year, he's going to be under fire. I really want to see him DOMINATE the game. Not 4 or 5 shifts. Dominate as in be a threat every shift.

When I was 24 I was serving as an intelligence analyst, and a Sergeant supervising 20 troops, in South Korea. On my off days I was in the village next to our base going dancing, playing pool, and hanging out with my friends all while getting shit faced.

Yet no mention of homo hill or hooker hill?

I really don't think it has anything to do with setting a "moral code". Everything I've heard has been in the line of Kane's partying and drinking having the potential to become a bigger problem other than just embarrassing photos and stories, and turning out horrible one of these times, with either another dumb incident like he had with his cousin or friend or whoever it was in Buffalo or maybe something worse, maybe getting arrested, DUI, who knows. I think that can be a legitimate concern, given his history. It doesn't mean he's a bad guy necessarily, just that he needs to know when to say when. I don't think it's as big a deal as some people make it out to be, like ending up in trading Kane, but I also don't think it's as minor as some people here like to believe it is.

I do have a question though: When do we stop saying "He's only X years old and out having fun..." When's the cut off point for that phrase?

Right now!

I would never tell my adult kids it's okay to make a public fool of yourself just because you are only 23....Ask my daughter if you don't believe me.

I suppose that depends on what position they play him at. If he again plays all three positions I don't know what his production as in points will look like. You don't dominate the game playing musical slot allocation. NO player does.

And I'm not sure how "respected" he is because several NHL coaches had specifically stated they liked Kane playing Center. Why, because he's LESS dangerous there. He doesn't have the free will with the puck as the position is much more demanding. Most understand exactly why his points were down, and those "in" the game, as in opposition, like that fact.

I would say that was probably Kanes most all around year. It's not always about the points and or production. No Kane, No Playoffs, No Question.

It's worked for Dustin Brown.

He had 53 points.

13 less than Kane... thing is, Dustin Brown has a sick two way game and Kane really has none. When you DOMINATE a shift, it includes two way play.

I'm not ragging on Kane at all, as he is still a very dynamic player.

Exactly. He has a different game. He's also not as offensively dynamic. Kanes vision on the ice is like very few players in the World. When you ask him to change that you are changing his game. Is he a better two way player than say 5 years ago, hell yes. Is he a great two way player, no.

The reason I pointed out the production was because that's what was in the previous post ALONE. That was the statement. Dustin brown will never have 80pts.

I would also argue puck possesion is domination. Kane's puck skills are twice what Dustin Browns are.

He is no longer considered young. There are people younger than he out there dying for this country. I worry about him because he seems to have an issue with making good choices. When everyone now has a camera or video on their cell hones, and you are a celebrity, you can't put yourself in those kinds of situations. There are people who make sure that no picture is taken of them unless they grant permission. They keep their backs to the room, turn their heads, have their entourage block them. It takes a bit of effort but it can be done. People more famous that he is are able to do it. Only his friends know how drunk he actually gets, but if the rumors are true, then perhaps he should take a break from the drink for a while. Not everyone can handle liquor. Kaner needs some guidance at the least.

It even really doesn't have much to do with being a celebrity, it's probably not a good idea in general to get passed out drunk. To go to that excess. Because anything can happen. It only takes one instance to go from "He's 23 and just having a good time" to "Holy shit, who do we call first, the ambulance, the lawyer/agent or parents?"
